Requesting a microwave

Please share your experience with requesting a microwave, including the resort you stayed at. We are thinking about staying at Pop or AofA Little Mermaid.

I didn't even know you can request a microwave. Does it matter which resort?

My understanding is that you can request a microwave at any resort, but there are a limited number of them. It is first come, first served, when they run out, you are out of luck. I'd like to know what the likelihood is of having my request fulfilled. I know this is not 100% accurate.

Past performance does not indicate future chances. The likelihood of having your request fulfilled depends on how many other people are requesting microwaves at your resort on the same dates that you are staying there. If you want a general idea of how often microwave requests are granted, that's fine, but that has no bearing on your chances.

Saying this only because too often people come on here and try to plan based on what happened to others, then get upset they didn't get the same treatment/situation/etc. Not saying that would be you, OP, this is just a general comment.

I've known people with food allergies who requested microwaves and not received one. So it's definitely not something anyone should plan is available.

AoA may be more likely than POP because the family suites at AoA have microwaves so better chance of having a spare. No rooms at POP have microwaves so I'd be surprised if there are any available for guest request.

If having a microwave in the room is that important, you should book the type of accommodation which includes a microwave.

I know Plan Disney has been problematic in the past but think since Disney actually made them part of their website info has been more accurate. I found this .. and it sounds like their might be a need to be considered. Even then depends on availability. If it were me I would book a room that has one, be prepared to use the one in the food court or bring your own if driving. I once brought my own mini fridge.


I spoke to a friendly Cast Member who said a limited number of microwaves are available at most resorts for guests with medical needs such as food allergies. These are distributed on a case-by-case basis, so there's no guarantee. I suggest you reach out to Disney Resort Hotel Reservations if you feel you have a need that qualifies you for a microwave. They can make a note in your account, and Cast Members will typically do all they can to help.
