OK, our Poly Grand gathering is just 4 days away and i just got a call from the gatherings people. Seems as though our Samoa request does not fit with our lagoon View that we paid for. So, since we must have non-smoking, our only option is Tahiti (since Tuvalu has some smoking optional rooms). Tell me why we will love Tahiti - it just seems so far away from everything except the TTC. Thanks for any help.

Also, if I assume the Karate Kid pose at check in, will they automatically upgrade me to Poly Concierge Lagoon View? Just curious.

we dont stay anywhere but tahiti, we love it. So convenient to the TTC, just a hope skip and jump to epcot. updated rooms, on the beach, we cringe at the thought of staying on the other side! have a great time!

Tahiti is great. Close to ttc, and just a short walk to the pool. Best things are the lagoon view, and its own beach. For t he most part the Tahiti has a private beach. awesome

We stayed in Tahiti last spring and loved it. We weren't even on the Lagoon side, but we were the last room on that hall and just had to walk out the door, go down a few steps and the beach was just a few steps away! We loved it because we were so close to the TTC!!

It has the biggest rooms at the Polyn - love it!!!

the Lagoon view from the Tahiti is wonderful!!!! You can see the castle - so to see Wishes you just have to seat out on your balcony.... then you can also see most of EWP....

I would definitely ask for 2nd floor or 3rd???? may sure there is no tree to block your view!

this is my favorite building!!!

We also love Tahiti and always request it but be aware that half of Tahiti is in fact smoking optional.

Thank you for the info. I wonder what half...
I spoke with our Gathering rep today, she said we were guaranteed a NS room due to our son's asthma. I'm starting to think Tahiti is a good thing. Any negatives?

Tahiti is definately an awesome building we love it, I just thought you should know that half of it is smoking optional, however, if I remember correctly the half that is smoking optional is separated from the non-smoking section by glass doors.

Have fun, I know you will

When we were at the Polynesian in Aug'03, I really wanted to stay in Tahiti. But, at that time it was being used for concierge, since Hawaii was being rehabbed. So, we ended up in Tokelau. Not bad, but Tahiti would still be our first choice. It's really not all that far from everything. It's all relative. What's an addtl 2 minutes walk to your room, especially if it's a great bldg.

mother (who is now 82) though it was a long walk to the Captain Cook (the snack bar). this was when she was in her 70's.

I hope my kids take me to WDW when I'm in my 70's. By the way, spiceycat - 2 days? Where are you staying? We'll be at Poly 3/5 thru 3/12. Woo Hoo!

Besides the Hawaii for concierge the Tahiti is our favorite. It's right next to TTC. The walk to the GCH is relaxing with the music playing.

We absolutely loved Tahiti! The walk to the TTC was awesome - so convenient!! And, I don't remember thinking that the walk to the GCH was very far...we were there quite a bit.

I think you'll love it! Have a great trip!

When are you going? Tahiti is due to have the rooms redone starting April till August. I was told they will not close down the building but do a few rooms at a time. I would not worry if you are there at the same time because they are usually good about the noise.

Tahiti is my favorite non-concierge longhouse and if you look at my web page you will see the different views. I have quite a few from the lagoon side but I will say that there are more upper floor rooms that have blocked views than ground level due to the tops of the palm trees. With that said there are not very many rooms that are blocked at all.

The smoking rooms are separated by doors in the middle of the second floor and the smoking rooms are only on the second floor towards the east half.

The rooms in Tahiti also have two sinks in the bathroom and balconies on both upper floors. The time to walk to the pool is short because you can walk right down the beach (less than 5 minute walk) and the walk to the GCH is about 5 minutes. The TTC with the monorail to Epcot is about 3 minutes to get to.

Out of all the lagoon view room buildings I like Tahiti the best.

Aloha

Steve

We stayed in Tahiti due to Tikiman's recommendation (thanks steve!) for our first stay at the Poly. We absolutely loved it! It is so quiet and peaceful there, the beach is so much more tranquil than the area by the volcano pool. I will say the walk to the GCH was long, but it wasn't a terrible walk, you know? It was a chance to see the beautiful grounds and admire the foliage, the views, etc. :) It's all in how you look at it!

The rooms were also fantastic--so large, and the two sinks in the bathroom area made it nice and spacious too.

We would stay there again in a heartbeat, if they could pry us out of concierge, LOL. Thanks again, Tikiman! ;)

We stayed in Tahiti last August and Loved it! This was our first stay so we were a little apprehensive about location but it ended up being very convenient. It is just a 2 minute walk to the TTC to catch the monorail to MK or Epcot. Also you can even watch the boat to MK go back and forth to the ferry landing so if you want to try that you know exactly when it will be at the dock and you can just walk right over in a minute when you see it coming. The walk to the pool or GCH is only 4 or 5 minutes and the grounds are so relaxing that it makes for a nice enjoying walk. Even the kids(mine were 8 and 12) didn't mind. We were on the first floor room 1023. The view was incredible!!!! Could see GF, Castle, Space Mountain. Could watch wishes from our patio every night and actually saw them better than the night we stayed at MK to view them. There is no walkway going by the lagoon side of this longhouse so there aren't people constantly walking by. Private beach is nice. I hope I've been some help. As you can tell we really liked this location.Enjoy your stay at the Poly! :flower:

We had a great room in Tahiti, I think 1021. The walk to the GCH is not that far and you'll be right near the path to the TTC. It's a quiet building and you really feel like you're on a tropic isle. Even if you have garden view, it's beautiful and you can walk right down to the beach to watch the electric water parade and fireworks.

You can also sit and watch Cindy's castle change color most of the night. I'd go back to Tahiti in an instant if I could!
