We are currently at Hitlon head and got assigned to a handicapped room which has no tub. My 3 year old has never taken showers until this week. We have lost 30 min in the morning and evening of peace and quite while he swims in the tub. My 9 year old has a broken arm so it's been a challenge to keep it dry, and I have no tub to escape to in the middle of the night when I can't sleep and don't want to bother everyone. I've learned to request a non-handicapped room whenever getting a studio. If a tub's important to you I suggest the same.

We will be utilizing the studios next summer at HH and we definitely want a bath tub. My daughter who is five years old hates showers.

Thanks for the tip. Hope your enjoying yourselves otherwise.

We got (unintentionally!) a handicapped room at OKW once. Not only is there no tub, but there were no cabinets under the bathroom counters, so therefore no storage space.

I'm not slamming handicap facilities, and they look very good for those who need them (my dad was confined to a wheelchair). It's just not our cup of tea.

Going to OKW May 19-30 and Dec 8-19 :)

We also got a handicap room at OKW a few years ago. We had never thought about it much but I guess that it does makes sense how they are layed out. Everything seems to be waist height to accomodate wheel chairs as well as the shower is a tub with no front on it. With small children it really can become a pain. They are constantly touching the thermostst and other items that would not normally be their reach. The frontless tub puts water every where while you try and shower a 2-3 year old. I know that it is necessary to accomodate handicapeed individuals so that these rooms are necessary and I am all for there existence. Especially since the normal hazzards of life could place anyone of us in a wheel chair without notice. I just learned the hard way to request a Non-handicapped room if you do not need one and you have small kids.

We didn't indicate a preference on a trip to OKW a few years ag, and were given a handicap studio. The thing we had a problem with is that there's a shower curtain, but with no tub the water spills out onto the bathroom floor. (at least it did for me, maybe I'm a slob.)

I got out of the shower one morning, skidded on the puddle and broke a toe! I didn't let a little thing like that slow me down on my vacation, but ever since we ask for a room on the 3rd floor. We prefer the view and they're quieter to boot.

Do you have to specifically request a non-handicapped room? And if you do, are you assured of getting it? I can't live without a tub! Are all the handicapped rooms on a certain floor at BWV?

Bump for me too!!! I have 2 small DD's and I need a bathtub for them. Showers just don't work well with the little ones.

No requests are guaranteed and if it's important you not have one of those funky showers, you need to request no to have one. About the closest thing you'll get to a guarantee is the medical requests. Of course you must prioritize your requests and realize that the more items you complicate your requests by, the less likely to get what you want. I'd generally have no more than 2 or MAX of 3 requests on a reservation. I'd never list a specific location, room number, floor, even building number unless a medical reason for the request or trying to get more than one room close together.
