Request For "Drink Around The Worlders"

I always start in Canada and because of the great beer in Canada and UK and Off Kilter, World Showcase Players and British Revolution (or what ever they are in their current manifestation), I don't always go completely around, BUT I do make it all the way around on occasion. It's very hard during F&W though, because there are too many choices and too many distractions.

:drinking: :drinking1

I've reflected on this, and the problem I have with starting in Canada/UK is that Canada and UK are my beer-drinking countries. You know the old addage, "Beer before liquor, never been sicker. Liquor before beer, in the clear!". :goodvibes

FYI, I learned on my last trip that if you are going to get a chewy caramel bar in Germany, save it for later because it doesn't go so well with blood orange margaritas and sake!

We've done "Drinks around the World" 13 years in a row (yes, 13). We always start at the Rose & Crown, grab a drink in Canada and then decide if we want to go clockwise or counter-clockwise around the lagoon. In our 13 years, I'm guessing we've gone clockwise 4 times and counter-clockwise 9 times. We prefer to end in Mexico, guns a blazin'...

Although we did OPEN the Canadian beer cart one year. I mean, we literally took the tarp off and served the first few beers along with our new Canadian castmember friend Joelle (who was from Manitoba, I believe).

I want to drink around the world so bad. Our last 2 trips have been in summer and I am not drinking while it is hot out!!!!!!

Hoping for a drink around the world for my Oct 2013 trip!!!! I wll start in Canada and do my part :goodvibes

Kim

Good luck with that! It's F&W festival! Takes DH and I around 4 days to do the "World Tour" in Oct!!

Maybe if they had a more attractive group attending Canada.

Sure, I'll be the superficial one, I'll be the one to say it. The Mountie uniforms are not flattering. If I wanna chat up a barmaid that looks like the brawny man I'm gonna need a world of booze before I get there.

Last time I spent 6 minutes ordering a beer only to be told I was talking to the totem pole.

And it doesn't help that the shortest skirts in Canada Pavilion are worn by the men in 'Off Kilter'.

And lets not get started on the drinks. Moosehead and Labatt? Gets me thinking of the other end of that moose. The Trois Pistoles is a great beer that is nominally "made in Canada" but it doesn't feel like a fair representative of the country.

So, lets work on getting Canada Pavilion to step their game up a bit before putting it all on us lecherous, drunken visitors hmmm?

The bold in particular, but this whole bit was a hoot! :lmao:

That was awesome. I must ensure I don't wear a skirt that day. While 11 drinks at home is piddly I suspect the heat will add a welcome challenge.
Brb, got to lock myself in a bathroom with 4 space heaters and a bottle of tequila, case of beer and 6 bottles of wine. That should condition the body...eh?

And about the comment about the national anthem :rotfl: I am a huge hockey fan and probably know the words to O Canada, sober or drunk, LOL!!!

It's only impressive if you can do it in all English, all French, or each of the mixes of English/French used by the different NHL anthem singers across the league.

Edit: Constable Lyndon Slewidge from Ottawa is my favorite.

We MAY drink around the world in May. ;)

I want to start in Mexico and BFF wants to start in Canada because when we get to Mexico we tend to STAY in Mexico for like a long time. LOL!!! :lmao: La Cava rocks as does San Angel Inn.

Her theory is that we start in Canada, go around and hang in Mexico at the end of the night. My theory is - beer before liqour never sicker. Canada's mixed drinks look MEH to me. :confused3

Like a PP said about their drinks- STEP IT UP CANADA! Even my Canadian friend cringed at their drink menus. LOL!

there will be no drinking around the world for this chick--not this trip anyway. People tend to frown upon a pregnant woman ordering booze. LOL! Seriously though, we never drink around the world. We get the occasional drink here and there, but we aren't in college anymore so our livers are just not what they used to be.

Be all indignant. Like, "what? 21 weeks is the drinking age for a fetus right?".

I'm thrilled my mum drank her way through my gestation, I owe most of my tolerance to it.

To follow up, I was successful. Drank around the world on Friday. And yes, I did start in Canada!! But only because on Thursday we were in Epcot for dinner so I grabbed a drink in Mexico on the way to dinner to help me feel better about starting in Canada Friday. Much fun! Even my DD (she's 6) participated somewhat with virgin drinks when we found slushy ones. She thought it was hilarious. Belle had to politely remind me its not princess like to double fist while trying to take a photograph with her. Oops!
