hi all,

I was just wondering if I should request a water view now or wait until we get here, in case they would upgrade to a water view for a honeymoon bonus! If they don't, well we could request it on the spot...

I think that's a better plan - do you agree?

If you really want a water view I would pay for it now. If you can live without a water view then take your chances at check in.

I agree with Safetymom. Upgrades are subject to availability at the resort. If the view is an important part of your trip, it'd be best to pay for it to guarantee it. It doesn't hurt to ask at check-in, but be prepared if they say "no."

I can't speak to POR because I haven't stayed there, but I know that, at other resorts (like CBR), their definition of water view can be rather creative. Sometimes it's just a view of the corner of the pool! If they offer you a water view room, you may want to be sure what kind of water you're viewing before you pay extra for it.

Also, water view is a room type, and as such, it is not something you can "request", like non-smoking, near an elevator, or things like that. You can "ask" for an upgrade, but I think you'd be very unlikely to get it, unless you're willing to pay the cost of the room type.

There is a category at the moderates costing extra at the moderates. It is not just a request.

Personally I think any water view at a moderate isn't worth it. Since you don't have your own balcony it is hard to see the water from your room.

I have had water views at POR and CBR and I paid for them and was upgraded to them. After I paid for them I decided they weren't worth the money. You may feel differently about it.

The first time we stayed at CSR we were upgraded to a "water view" room (although we didn't know it at the time). We had a view of the lake at CSR from our window. The "view" is not a big deal with us... we arrive, look out the window or balcony as the case may be, say "nice view" and head to the parks. :teeth:

ITA with jaysmom4285 -- definitions of "views" can be creative at ANY hotel, not just Disney. For us, paying for a view is not really worth it because we don't spend a lot of time in the room looking out the window or sitting on the balcony (if it has one).
