Request an upgrade at teh Dolphin Hotel??

Ok I am confused, I’ve read a lot of threads about upgrades at the Swan & Dolphin and I’m skill confused. People fax in their request and if it’s available they get it? Is that correct? So if I book a week there, standard room what can I request as an upgrade? How do I go about this? And what are your experiences with this?

I’m very confused to think that you would actually ASK for an upgrade have I got totally the wrong impression, please someone put me right.

We've been lucky enough to get fabulous free upgrades, without asking, but I don't see anything wrong with it. While you're checking in simply say, "Is there any chance there are rooms available with an Epcot view."

If the room is empty, it wouldn't cost them any extra to give you that room and make you a happy. I personally wouldn't have the nerve to ask for a free upgrade to conceirge. To me that is a major difference, now they would be spending more money based on food/drinks, so I would expect to spend more.

All that being said, the marketing people at S/D are top notch and they are quick to give out free upgrades based on view. They know the happier you are, the better your chances are of returning in the future.

They did that for me and I can't say enough great things about them to anyone that will listen.
