HI,
I'm new here but am preparing for a May, 2002 cruise. We'll be in the Roy suite :D and am curious as to what exactly are ALL of the perks. Please forgive me if this is spelled out anywhere else. I'm slowly reading all posts but am going from the end and have only made it to page 20!

I'm specifically interested in if you have a 'butler' on board as well as concierge service? If so, what are the duties/help provided. I could've sworn I read about that but now can't find it anywhere... And then of course, the soda/bottled water question. Can any former Cat 1 cruiser confirm or deny the FREE supply in your fridge in the room? Is it replenished for FREE each day or upon request? Any 'special' things in your room upon arrival - snack, flowers, etc? that's INCLUDED in this lovely price we've paid? :) And do the Cat 1 suites have the jacuzzi tub as do the other suites? Will we honestly be comfortable with 4 adults (2 couples) and 2 kids? Ok, I know I'm going to come up with more Cat. 1 questions, but this is a start. Any other comments or suggestions very much appreciated!! Thanks for all help!

Welcome, cotomom and lucky YOU! :)

There are a few posters here who stayed in a Cat. 1 (the best I've done is a Cat. 3) and they will give you more details but I can tell you:

* There is NO butler, just a helpful concierge staff.
* The Cat. 1 suites do seem to get water/soda refilled upon request, without charge...not so for the other suites.
* The concierge staff will bring you goodies throughout the cruise...fresh fruit, cookies, arcade cards for the kids (if any), little things like that. You'll get a small gift at the end of the cruise, usually a book on the Making of the Magic.
* You do have the jacuzzi tub.

And you will have a BLAST! :) Plenty of room for six people.

Enjoy, and please do let us know all about it when you return!

Hi Cotomom!

We are going to be in the Walt suite for an October cruise (many thanks to my awesome mother in law!) I'm curious about what all the perks are also. Please let us all know what the Roy suite is like when you return from your cruise.

Does anyone know if there is a difference between the Roy and the Walt rooms? Also, I've read different thinks about the concierge service. Does the concierge come to your room and help with the bookings or do they just have a group meeting with all the concierge level guests at one time?

When my mother in law invited us to go on this cruise with her my heart nearly stopped beating! We could never afford to go on a cruise, much less go in such style, without her generosity! Even though the trip isn't until October I go online every day and read everything I can about it! I'm even more excited than the kids right now!

There are pictures of the Walt and Roy suite on the Disney Cruise Index site. We stayed in the Walt suite and it was fantastic!! We had 7 people and were not crowded. There is a powder room and the one bath with whirlpool tub/shower and the master bath with shower and jacuzzi tub. The room steward was very attentive and seemed to change the towels etc 2x a day --at least. We did get free soda and water, but had to ask after the first day. Our kids received free game cards for the arcade. The concierge met with everyone in the lounge the first day, but did call and come to our room each day to see if we needed anything. If you have any questions let me know. The down side is that we are spoiled and couldn't get a suite for ou June cruise--hoping the waitlist comes through. Beth

We have stayed in both the Roy and Walt Disney suites and they are both amazing. In the early (before the inaugural sailing in the summer of 1998) brochures there was a mention of a butler in the royal suites but as far as I know there never was such a service offered. Our 1st cruise (in Nov of 1998) was in the Roy suite and there was no butler so it was probably just an idea that never came to life. Barb was nice enough to put our pictures on her web site and although we love them and they are great, they really do not do justice to the suites themselves. No matter what you hear or see about these suites I guarantee that your expectations will be FAR exceeded once you get on board. As BethA said, the only problem with these accomodations is that once you have stayed in one, you will never be happy in a regular room on these ships. Enjoy your cruise and the suite.

I'm sure I'm going to come up with more questions though! I appreciate all of your responses!

Kendra :)

We were in the Walt Suite on 2/23 Magic cruise.

All that was said before it true. There isn't a butler service. There is a piano in the Walt Suite that works. We brought one of my daughter's Disney song books and practiced.

The master bedroom has a sitting room between it and the verandah. There is a pull down large bed in there. You have glass sliders that give you privacy between the two and you have a second entrance to the master through the front hallway into the closet area. I can imagine you putting the two kids in the sitting area and the couples in the two bedrooms. You won't be crowded.

The sodas are free and you just ask the concierge and they bring them by the small basket full. You also get a bowl or two of fresh fruit and some little treats once or twice at night during the week.

The jacquzzi tub is great and is oval shaped. You will have a separate shower with double heads even. I took several baths with my two girls ages 7.5 and 4.5 while we watched cartoons on the tv in the wall above the sink. We took some bubble bath and got the jets going. It was fun and one good way to get the sand out of hair and other parts. The second bedroom also has a jacquzzi tub but the shape is that of a regular bathtub.

The verandah is huge and you have two sets of 2 chairs with a small table and 2 lounge chairs in between. They are nice lounge chairs. I took several naps out there.

You will hear some noise in the family room area, but you don't hear it in the bedroom.

We loved it so much we may be attempting to book again sometime in 2004 once they open it.

I'm very interested in this thread too since we are booked on the Wonder in the Walt Suite for this coming May. Is there anyone else who can add more? What about your table seatings? Is there anything we should request prior to boarding? What extras do you bring along to enjoy in the suites? (besides bubble bath and piano music):D Have they stopped the bridge tours for the suite guests too? I was so looking forward to a tour.
So few questions, so much time. Scratch that, reverse it! :p

Lisa:)

Is it just the Walt suite or both Roy and Walt that have the piano?

Thanks for all the input so far. If anyone has anymore comments, please add to this thread!

"Scratch That, Reverse It"... hahah...Love Willy Wonka!!

We're staying in the Roy Suite on the Wonder on June 6, 2002... Also due to my wonderful Mother in Law! This list of "perks" is unbelievable.. and VERY helpful. Thanks to all for posting their knowledge!

The highest category we've every sailed is a Cat4 a couple of years ago. You might want to check out this thread:

Penguins_fan was on our cruise and graciously offered us a tour of the Roy suite. I was tempted, but I figured that it was their vacation and they didn't need a parade of DISers intruding on their digs. I'm sure that they would be more that happy to answer your questions about the Roy suite.

Hi, our family of seven stayed in the Roy Disney Suite on the 1/19/02 Magic 7-day cruise. We had booked it 14 months in advance. For us it was a better value since it was my husband, myself and our 5 children, otherwise we would have had to book 2 cabins and pay 4 full fares. It was well worth the wait. The conceirge service (once you figure out what you are actually entitled to, which we just point blank asked them) was a great plus for us. We had a full breakfast order every morning which they brought in, table linens and all, and set it all up and then cleaned up for us later, no dragging that crew up for the breakfast run. The sleeping arrangements worked out very well for us. We had 4 of the kids sleeping in the second bedroom which had to twin and two pull down beds along with the full bathroom and then our oldest daughter slept in the Library which had a Queen size pull down bed with frosted sliding doors from the living room and the master bedroom. It was great for her since she was out late every night with her new found friends in the Common Grounds (teen club). We enjoyed the Veranda especially in the morning with a cup of coffee and on the one day that our youngest (4 yr. boy) came down with a 24 hr. virus. While he laid sleeping on the couch, we had the stereo system playing a little Jimmy Buffet and had boat drinks on the veranda (definately one of the nicest ways to get through a day with a sick child). Another perk is that you can order from any of the restaurants, not just the room service menu. The day we hung out in the room while DS was sick, we order from Lumerier's their luncheon, delicious. Also, our other DS thought it was pretty cool he could just order up some pizza and chocolate chip cookies (what a big hitter). We truly enjoyed the suite and are on the wait listing for another cruise. Well worth the wait. Because of the size of our family, they put us at our own table which was nice but you didn't get a chance to meet some other people, but the kids really enjoyed our servers, Sylvester and Carlos, they were great. Enjoy yourselves....

I am sooooo ready!

Thanks to you all for your comments. Now if only the days would go by faster........

I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum to ask this question, but since those responding to this question are "suite" people I figure it's the best place to start.
My family is booked on a Land/Sea pkg for May...Cat 1. My reservations say that we have concierge level at the Grand Floridian. Have any of you done the Land/Sea pkg? Which level of concierge will we get? I'm really hoping for the RPC, but my guess is that it'll be Sugar Loaf. (which is nothing to complain about, for sure!) For any of you who have booked Land/Sea pkgs, what where your accomadations at GF?

Thanks for any help you can give.

Lisa :)

We have a Land/Sea package booked for June 2-9.... First at the GF Concierge, and we in fact did get RPC... and then we'll be in Cat 1 in the Roy O Suite... So -- you may have gotten RPC - but I know we specifically request it everytime... you probably want to check with your Travel Agent or with CRO on your reservations... you may be able to move over to RPC...

Good luck!
