Request a cot or bring airbed?

Hi. We'll be staying in a 1BR soon, and although we've always managed with my 2 DDs on the pull-out couch together, I know they will both sleep better if I put DD7 in her own bed.

Can you easily have a cot sent up? Are they decently comfortable?

Or should i just invest in an inflatable mattress (we would certainly use it for WDW and otherwise)?

What are your thoughts? What have you done? If you take an airbed, what kind do you have and do you like it?

Thanks!!!

DVC resorts do not provide cots or rollaway beds. You'll have to bring the airbed or something similar to sleep an extra guest.

I don't think Disney will provide an extra bed or sheets. Your best bet is to bring the air mattress with bedding.

we just got back from a 1 BR in OKW. I simply took the couch cushions off the bigger couch and made a bed for my older dd on the floor with it. You will have to bring your own extra bedding, though.

The cushions are not removable from the sleeper sofa at BCV or BWV. Not sure about AKV.

Last May, we stayed at BCV and requested an aerobed prior to check in, a few days beforehand......When we got there, the aeorbed was brought up to the room for us. So, in my experience, they will provide them on request.....:thumbsup2

Were you paying cash for the stay?

DVC has always had a very firm stance on not providing additional sleeping accommodations beyond what is in the room. If you did receive an airbed with a points stay, I wouldn't go into future trips with the expectation that it will happen again.

Apparently, they have collected some "left behind" aerobeds that they will loan out now, first come first serve. I believe occupancy requirements are still in place - and if its important its something I'd still recommend people pack as availability seems to be limited.

At least, the assumption in these threads are these are aerobeds that have been left behind by previous guests and therefore don't increase DVCs expense beyond delivering them when requested. For all we really know, they could have invested in aerobeds.

(Yeah, I know, surprised me to the first two times I heard, but I've heard the story often enough now that it seems like they've backed off on that very firm stance).

Yes, really:yay:

I rented points from another member so I assume they treated me as if I owned the points.

I just called a few days before my stay to confirm

There were no problems:cool2:

:thumbsup2 I wouldnt count on it again

But I will try again next May when I go

Will just call ahead and ask. If they say yes, then great

If not, then I will just purcahse an aerobed and bring it with me

We stayed 2 adults and 2 children to a one bedroom at BCV on rented points

Just keep in mind it is just a request it is not guaranteed. If it is necessary you may want to bring your own.

We will be bringing an aero bed on our January trip to BWV. We are in a 1 bd and our DD and DS do not like to share a bed. Luckily we drive so it is just another thing to throw in the car. I'd hate to request it and not have it when we arrived. :scared:

The aerobed at BCV is an oddity and not even something that you could request on a regular basis. I'd bet they just have a few that other guests have left behind and once they are no good anymore, they are gone - until replaced with another scavenged aerobed.

DVC says it will not provide any additional bedding.

We were in a Studio and I was scrambling to find places to store the cushions off the pull-out sofa so our daughter could sleep. So yes, they're unfortunately removeable, at least in the studios.

I wish they weren't. The studios aren't huge, but we usually leave the bed pulled-out - especially given it was stiff and difficult to open to begin with (probably because it was newish). With the cushions all over, though, I think if we were staying multiple days in that room again, I'd fold the bed up and put it back together when she wasn't sleeping.

You must have had an older sleeper sofa. There are three types of sleeper sofas, (1) the older one with removable cushions and the bar under you back, (2) the newer one with non-removable cushions that flip underneath to support the foot of the bed when it is opened up and (3) the newer one with removable cushions and the memory foam-platform type bed.

We also were fortunate and were able to have housekeeping bring up an airbed for our recent stay at BCV. We had read about that possibility here on Disboards and decided that since we were flying in we would take our chances. They actually added that request to our reservation and of course reminded us that although it was possible it was only a request. When we arrived it was brought right up and they even gave us bedding for it (which I did not request). We were ready to manage without it but it really did help.

We have a DD15 and DS14. DD takes the pullout, and DS sleeps on a airbed. We have been through several mattreses but so far the kind you plug into the wall far exceeds the portable battery version. I believe the version we have now is a full size, and it is around 18" high. Fits just right between pullout and TV stand(with a bit of re-arranging furniture). Resort will furnish sheets and blanket.
