I usually use timeshares and hotels so am not familar with these.

I have a cousin in law in Canada who wants to look for a pool home for a couple weeks next summer.

Does anyone know any reputable sites/companies that rent out pool homes in the ORlando area?

thanks!
Diane

The sites listed above are great and you'll find literaly hundreds to pick from

We love staying in Pool homes

my advice to anyone looking to rent is deal directly with the owner

we did not do that in 2002 and regret it the management company was less than helpful and we had several problems with the home

This year ( 38 days to be exact) we are renting another pool home and dealing directly with the owner
and even though we have yet to stay in her home she has already gone a long way to making our vacaton extra special

I think the owners try more and give the extra effort

happy house hunting:D

My family of 5 ( three large teenagers) have outgrown the one hotel room vacation. I am beginning to research some other options. After reading this thread and looking at the websites listed I am trying to figure out if this is legit. Can you rent a new 3 bedroom home with a pool for the price of one Disney hotel room??

tdelano--
if you factor in the cost of Eating out all the time at a hotel opposed to having a full kitchen to take some meals in you can actually spend less
i know we do when we go

Jannyans--Thanks i am feeling 100% better and can't wait to enjoy your home in a few weeks I think it will be JUST what the doctor order:D

I can't believe www.villadirect.com hasn't been said yet. They are very highly recommended on this board. I like this site because you can use the search engine to pick out exactly what you want, and then see pictures of all of them.

My friends are renting a 3 bedroom condo at Windsor Palms on 9-11. They got it for $79 a night. So far they have been really happy with how everything has been handled.

I'll let you know when they get back and what they said about it.

we have had wonderful luck renting both a condo (3 br/2 ba) and a 6 br/4 ba pool home. The full kitchen is a real plus for saving money as well as a washer/dryer in some. Yes you can rent a 3 br for less than you can get a Disney room. Of course you give up some of the amminities of staying on-site. But with a large group or teenagers it is usually worth the trade. It seems like some of the companies change names and go by different names, but we have had very good luck.

I really like orlandovillas.com and its two sister sites because they have discussion forums where you can ask questions of owners and get very helpful replies (i.e. about different communities, driving times to parks, restaurants, shops, etc.). We rented a 4 bedroom Emerald Island home from an owner on that site -- but our trip is not until February. Good luck!

We have rented homes on 3 different occasions thru vacationrentals.com and have been very pleased. You deal direct with the owners which is always a plus.

I like the idea of having a home for all the space. But remember you then have to add in parking fees, travel times to get into the parks, as well as dealing with the traffic.

I keep going back and forth as which option would be the nicest. I think parking is $8/day, but then you have the traffic issue.

We were looking at a hotel that offers microwaves and mini fridges, and also tranports you to the parks for free. About $60/night. This seems the most economical, but having a full house would be GREAT also. Cost is about $80/night for house

Any comments to help my decision? Is the higher cost and parking issue worth it? Also, can you still park hop if you drive yourself? How confusing would this be?

you can park hop just the same and if you drive to one car park and then want to move to another you just show your ticket to the guy in the booth and you won't pay again. As far the drivng to and from the parks its no big deal I waited in line for a disney bus over 20 minutes in march I could have been back to the house in that time so it is never annissue witrh me although it can be for some others. The benefit of staying off site with a car is you can come and go as and when you please and are not at the mercy of a bus time table -but everyone makes their own final decision.

Maps -- I am sure we northern New Englanders will both really need it by then! LOL! Our trip is Feb 26-March 5 -- our college break. I'm nervous about staying offsite for the first time, but we really need the space, so...

I'll be on the lookout for your trip report!

i can give you a trip report now---we went this past year from 2/26-3/7 and stayed in a 4br in indian creek home and...

we will never stay in a hotel again!!!!

it was fabulous. we would get up early, eat breakfast in the home and be the first ones in the park (there are shortcuts that cut down on the ride)

when the park got busy, we would go back "home", the kids would swim in the private pool and we would have lunch.

then back to the parks until closing, come home, put the kids to bed, and here comes the best part---

my husband and i would go out to the spa and soak under the stars.

it was so nice to have all the extra space and not have to go to bed when the kids did.

i also went home with bags filled with CLEAN clothes.

this will be the third year in a row that we've done this. this time we have to go on a school schedule so we go president's week.

have a great trip

This is sounds wonderful! I'm so sick of
(a) trying to get my squirmy boys to fall asleep in the same bed together (they have their own rooms at home), and
(b) lying quietly with my husband in the other bed pretending to be asleep, then being afraid to turn on the TV or a light for fear of waking them!

Thanks to maps and poet123 for the positive reports!
