Can anyone point me in the direction of reputable pin sellers? I found my lanyard today with the stuff from my last Disney trip and decided to make a shadow box to display them in, then I thought I might wanna start trading!! I know here on DIS I read about people getting knockoffs (which I don't care but I don't wanna trade anyone a bum pin if they trade me one they paid a bit for and is real) so I would like some feedback as to how to tell and also if anyone knows of reputable sellers!

I will probably only trade with CMs, but if someone approaches me then I won't say no! But again, I don't want to trade bad ones even with CMs because I don't want to be the cause of them circulating.

Any help is appreciated!!

Thanks!! :earsboy:

I don't know of any reputable sellers, but you'll want to avoid anyone selling pin lots (where the pins are less than a dollar each). If the pins are still sold on the cards or in the original packaging, that's a good sign. Another option is to keep an eye on the DisneyStore.com's pin clearance section. Sometimes they have starter sets on sale. You can also check out the Disney Store outlets (if you're in Orlando or LA).

If you're going to stick with trading with CMs, you'll most likely end up with scrappers/fake pins.

Thanks for the tip about the clearance section!! Didn't even think about that!!! We will be going to Orlando next weekend to look at apartments I might go to a few outlet stores!! :D Great tips!!

And I'm sure they carry good pins I'm sure parents probably don't research and buy scrapped pins (I'm already learning some lingo!) and then kids trade! Honest mistake really!!

Don't CMs carry special pins any more?

Do you mean the Hidden Mickey pins? Yes, the CM lanyards often have those, but the are also the ones that are most likely to be scrappers/fakes. If you happen to be there right when a new wave of Hidden Mickey pins debut, they probably won't be scrappers, but after time the scrappers of those get into the market. Sometimes it's really easy to tell a scrapper, other times it's really hard.

I would suggest going over to the Collector's Forum. One of the major threads there has to do with Good and Bad eBay and other pin sellers.,
