We had a great time! After we landed at MCO, we killed a little time (Arrived @ 11:30am) by driving over to BWV's to look at the DVC models before checking in at CSR. After meeting our guide in person, she took us on the tour and viewing we never did before our purchase, I cant stress how much we were overjoyed when we saw ALL the models! The setups, room inventories and different theme's all had their own wonderful combonations and only reinforced our happyness with our purchase in DVC.
We then moved on to check-in at CRS (Our 6/5night stay discounted to $605.00 total was made prior to our DVC purchase - our last cash reservation btw) We had a 1st floor room at Cabanas 8A. It's location was perfect in my view; right next to the Dig Site, nice view from the room and the walk to the main building was not bad at all. IMHO - The Pepper Market was not a good alternative for a "Captain Cook's Cafe" to get a quick/small meal for the kids. EX. - The kids meal hot dog (regular size dog, small bag of potato chips and a cookie) was $4.50 plus tax and that 10% charge. At the Dig Site grill - The hot dog meal (1/4lb dog and side of Fries) was the same $4.50 with out the 10% extra charge. And your refill mug was good at both. Food at the Maya Grill and Pepper Market was overall very good for Disney standards. We made a tour by foot of all the resort buildings and enjoyed the different "theme's" that each of the 3 resort sections offered to their vacationers, they all were unique.
After our last day at CSR we moved on to our vacation add-on (4/3 night stay - 1 Bdrm) at Old Key West and had our room the minute we checked in. We had Building 22, And when we went in - OMG! ROOM! It really was something else after years in "studio" rooms. Both DW and I were very impressed and after eating a Home Cooked Breakfast, we packed the kids and drove straight over to our "Home Resort - VWL" and after telling the WL-Security Guard we were inspecting our Home for the first time (We had some good laughs) we pulled up to the parking lot - I almost fell over! The Wilderness lodge just kept getting more and more huge as you walk up to it. Short Story - After looking around the whole resort, we (kids too!) were SOOOOO overjoyed that all our points are at VWL for the 11 month priority window: the VWL is the Polynesian replacement that we loved to goto year after year! Back to the OKW - Quiet, beautiful, roomy it was great! With a full table for 4 inside and on the outside porch, eating "in" was soooo comfortable (did I ever mention I love to cook?) Quiet pool was in good walking distance - But I was lost in understanding why with my area only (that we saw) - there was no sidewalk like everywhere else. So if you have young children or have a handicap - I would ask not to be placed in this area from building 20, 21 and 22. The only reason I didnt ask to be moved was because it is a dead end (but the bus does turn around by 20 and 21) Never had a chance to try Olivia's or the main pool because it was just more convienent with the kids locationwise to cook at the room and walk to the quiet pool. We did a MK day and Sea World day during our stay and some little in-betweens that added to the great time we had.
This trip allowed us to fully appreciate our decision to purchase into the DVC because it fit our vacation lifestyle - And we look foward to staying at all the DVC resorts at one time or another.
I'm gonna try to setup a picture page on my web site mabye this weekend.
