I've got one kid who made the honor roll and is getting a reward and one kid who is now grounded and lost cell phone privileges.

Any bets as to which kid goes with which reward/punishment?

Has anybody else gotten report cards yet?

Hey that sounds like our house. One of our DDs should just skip 1st grade. And my 6th grader has lost all forms of fun. According to her her life is over:thumbsup2 Good times!!

Don't you just love the drama? :rotfl2:

You're such a fun sucker. ;) :thumbsup2

None yet but I know the high school one may not be pretty- one of the honors classes ds is taking is not going well(So you would think he should get out of honors but nope the teacher thinks he can do it just unorganized- :confused3 )

And the other 2 that get report cards get them next week. How bad for the grounding? I took away a computer for everything except school requirements and I stand over him.(good times good times)

My 4th gr. daughter doesn't get a report card for the first quarter. You have a face to face with the teacher. My daughter did extremely well which is no surprise. My son in 6th gr. gets his tomorrow. All his grades get updated online so there really can't be any surprises. As of now he should get all A's.:)

This happens frequently with my DS13. He thinks we are horrible parents. We basically tell him that if it plugs in or uses batteries he cant use it:confused3

My kids were supposed to get theirs on Friday one week ago. My older daughter brought hers home on the first day.

My younger daughter ended up getting grounded from the TV (on the third day) until she brought hers home...(on the 5th day). The kicker was that the report card couldn't have been any better.

We're not too far from the 2nd card here, no problems to report.

I'm with you sister. We have ALL kinds of problems with our DS in 10th grade(barely). We ask so little of him and he somehow seems to deliver even less. Smart kid, horrible student. But hey, maybe I'll be able to use that college savings on that trip to Hawaii I've always wanted.

Wow, this sounds like my kind of thread! DD13 did fine, as we expected. She's a smart kid and serious about school. DS11--ugh! Actually smarter than his sister, but zero motivation. He got a 66 in Health!!! How on earth do you barely pass health?!? (Well, duh--by not handing in your homework!) He's on serious lockdown. I do have to give him credit, though, he brought his C in math up to a B-. Still way below his ability--he won the top award for math league back in June. So, there's no excuse. I think he gets bored with the rote memorization stuff, really prefers the complex math--but you know what? Suck it up! You have to learn it! The basic skills can trip you up!

Okay, sorry, just another mom moment...

We get our first report card of the school year on the 17th. We have teachers conference for both girls on the 20th. I think both will have good report cards. They are in first and third grade. The only thing we expect from our girls is that they try their hardest. They have different learning abilities so I can't expect the same grades from both. I dont like how my parents give a certain dollar amount for A's and B's. It's not fair since my little one has a learning disability and I can honestly say, she puts in much more effort than my oldest. I have told them not to give either of them any rewards, but they haven't listened. I do not reward my girls for report cards. I give them tons of praise after every test and always tell them how proud i am of them. My oldest seems to catch on quickly to everything without even trying, she is an avid reader and is my spelling Queen. My little one has trouble reading and goes for extra help. We have to work hard with spelling and reading. It takes alot more effort on her part. I will be proud of both of them.

We got ours at conferences yesterday. Both girls are doing well.

Our grades are online, too, so no surprises here. A's and B's for the 6th grader and my 2nd grader doesn't get grades until 3rd grade.

Our end of the quarter isn't until this Friday, so report cards come home next week. :)

I miss getting report cards. DD is only in Pre K and all the older ones have graduated. They grow up too fast.

I loved this bolded part. I should have used that line with my kids, hopefully I won't have to with little one.

We had the same problem with my FIL. It only happened one time and we put a stop to that. With my 3 older kids, one DS had dsylexia and some major learning disabilities. He actually made it through his entire school career and never did a book report, never did a project, didn't do a lot of stuff, he got excused from most things. Well, inlaws invited us to dinner at a steak house one night. We get there and sit down and FIL says this dinner is to celebrate X's great report card and then gave him $20. My other two kids just dropped their jaws. They had perfect grades and put in a lot more effort. They were only a grade younger than him so they very much understood what was going on also. That was the last time that happened.

We are on 6 week grading cycles, so DS (7th grade) got one report card already. He got 4 A's and 3 B's. What shocked me was that 2 of his B's were in Language Arts and Reading and he NEVER gets less than an A in those classes! Come to find out he never turned in his 6 weeks test for Language Arts :scared1: , and the Reading teacher is a bit of a shrew.

The deal with not turning in completed work is going to drive me to drink. :headache:

Last year we had access to the online grade book. That was FABULOUS because I could usually catch the 0's on work in time for him to still get partial credit for it. This year the district isn't using that system, so there are lots of surprises. I got an e-mail yesterday that he has 3 missing papers in Language Arts. 2 of them were in his binder. The third thing is just missing, vaporized, no telling where it went.

Next Friday is the last day of the 2nd grading cycle so we shall see what lurks on that report card that I wasn't expecting.

Cat gets hers tomorrow. I am expecting great grades but hopefully I want to hear that she behaves well... ect. Its my Birthday tomorrow and if I don't get the president of my choice at least my DD should bring home a wonderful report card.

DD got hers a couple of weeks ago. She's a senior and I know she was worried before school started about taking AP Stats but she got a very good grade. Actually, all her grades were very good.

She called me after school to let me know I owed her some books and she'd already picked them out. Since she was in kindergarten, she's gotten a book for each good grade. I'm just thankful that now that she's 17, she still thinks that is a fabulous reward. :thumbsup2

Aww, that's so sweet! I think we started out giving monetary rewards for A grades, but then I had to stipulate that it was in academic classes (uh, sorry, not giving money for a D in reading but an A in cooking). :P Then at one point in middle school, I'd promised DS that I'd give him money if he would get on the honor roll -- completely forgot about it because he never did get on the honor roll. Last night I was looking over his report card and he had a big grin on his face and I said "OMG! Honor roll!" and he reminded me about the money.

I always knew he was capable. I so badly want to go back to a few certain administrators and rub it in their faces. ;)

I'm so glad to hear that he's doing well and made the honor roll! I know you've had a lot of struggles over the years. Maybe you could send those administrators a copy of his report card. ;)
