It's time to replace the filter for the first time in our LG refrigerator that we bought several months ago, so I thought I'd check out the price before going to Home Depot.

Yikes! It's $44.95. I checked other sites and they go from $17+ and up, but these are for other companies other than LG. Does it really matter if I get a generic brand?

Where do you buy your filters?

TIA

We generally get ours off the internet (not an LG), I think I used Amazon or Ebay the last time, but I've always been too scared to try a generic.

I'd love to know too - if we can use a generic, I'm all for it!

Thanks for feedback.

After reading your replies, I was really leery about buying a generic brand. I ended up finding a fillter on Amazon and called LG to make sure that it was really an LG and not a generic. I gave them the name of the maufacturer, the filter # and the refrigerator model #. They said that it is an LG filter and wit is ok to to use in my refrigerator.

I paid $61.86 for a two-pack.

We have a Kenmore made by LG. That's what I pay for the Sears branded filter.
