Replacing Kouzina

Sources tell me that Kouzzina will be replaced by an Italian restaurant.

Surely there are enough of them already? What about a Spanish Tapas restaurant? There isn't one of those in WDW?

I can't see it being a Counter Service place - not enough money to be made at a Deluxe.

They're looking to move volume through the dining plan...not offer variety anymore...

Most Americans...in particular...have horrendous taste in food beyond what is their regional cuisine...

Anything approaching "try it... It's different" doesn't seem to play anymore.

Somewhat worrisome... Since the best 3 Italian places on property are run by outside groups...

And they do have 5 already...

Not to be geographically biased...but it's against myself so i will anyway...but northeasterners can't get over Italian food... Restaurant after restaurant...same menus...

So two dvcs there throws the customers that way as well.

Well, I am from the UK so could be wrong about this, but aren't there a lot of people from the US of Spanish descent?

Another suggestion would be a 'World Buffet' which has sections from all different popular cuisines, e.g. we have this one in the UK:

if you're talking about the US's growing Latin population...I respectfully ( and delicately)submit that they are not comprising a representative demographic portion to the overall clientele at WDW at this point.

Likely growing at this point I would assume...but not proportional

I imagine that Disney considers Italian cuisine to be safe and familiar so that's why there's so much of it. I would have preferred something different myself but like another poster said "different" doesn't seem to sell.

Are you being sarcastic? I don't necessarily think an italian restaurant is much needed they have others on property.

I actually think that boardwalks food is a bit of a failure on Disney's part... Especially since spoodles left.

Espn is what it is...kinda a necessary evil. The food is ok but it's there only to serve the "we don't remember we're on vacation" crowd.
Big river is kinda meh...could take it or leave it.
Flying fish is good...but like all the signature is a "once every few years" kinda place.
The bakery has finally been fleshed out a little...they desperately needed that...

An Italian restaurant does nothing for me...especially disney run. Tony's has always been pretty poor on the whole...and menu streamlining has ruined mama melrose by and large.

Now I know typical hotels don't have nearly that much...but if you're gonna have it - don't have a collection of blah.
It's also a little nostalgia for me...pleasure island and boardwalk were two of the Eisner concepts I loved...a broad spectrum approach to the property to allow lifelong appeal...

Now it's dining plan meat market and useless retail...more than before

Imagineers - if you are reading...I just had a great idea for a theme for this restaurant...and it fits in with the Italian cuisine!

How about a theme based around Boardwalk style gangster movies - Al Capone, etc - like the Boardwalk Empire TV series (although not directly linked to it).

Given the setting I think this could be outstanding - what do you all think?

Problem is, ESPN and BRG already cover the typical-American fare/beer niche. Flying Fish covers the signature and Bakery covers the nearly QS niche. What's left? Boardwalk, IMO, needs a quick, accessible TS option that is open for breakfast and for dinner - and stays open until 2am. I'd be happy with an upscale pizza place where you can carryout and take to room or eat on Boardwalk, or eat inside as traditional TS. It could serve pizzas, oven-baked sandwiches, simple pastas, salads, etc... If I want eclectic, destination-type eating, I'll walk to either Swolphin or Epcot where they both have that in spades. What BW needs is something to feed their resort a TS breakfast and late night visitors (and guests returning from EMH) a quick small dinner. I can't tell you how many times I've gone to MK evening EMHs and come back to BW starving and without any dining options....

I'm hoping they bring in at least a TS breakfast place - we are planning on staying at the BW next June and would LOVE for the new restaurant to be open by then..

We really like the breakfast at Captains Grill, and like Cape May too, but if we're headed to HS early, we'd rather have a tasty TS b'fast and skip the characters...(horror, I know....)

I know there is a ton of Italian places within the parks, but we have to consider the Boardwalk for what it is. Boardwalk offers Dining Plan options as well as Walk Up Dining without necessarily requiring a valid park admission.

I think there may be an Italian place at DTD, but am not sure any of the Resorts offer Italian.

Personally I was hoping for something unique and creative to keep with the Boardwalk Theme. Maybe some type of traditional American fair, or a catch-all restaurant, with a live brass band. The Dance Hall is a glorious waste of space, but if you had a dinner spot that appeals to the masses with the menu and offered some live music, swing dancing, and wait staff/musicians in period clothing I think that would be a big hit.

I also always thought Big River would be better if it was more of a "speak easy" setting that could catch the Epcot crowd who enjoys drinking around the world or doing the festivals. Once Epcot closes at 9 or 10:00 like most nights they can wander to the speak easy to keep the party going.

DTD does have an italian place Portobellos. The boardwalk shops and restaurants are not exactly part of the boardwalk inn resort. The boardwalk is thought of its own entertainment area. We always make stops at the boardwalk. The only other italian place i found outside the parks is Il Mulino at the Swan hotel but that hotel is not owned by disney. I think most people are just looking for something more unique or something not owned and ruined by disney like many other restaurants.
