Hello everyone!
I heard that Aladdin Musical Spectacular is going away. Has anyone heard a rumor of its replacement?

It's going to be Toy Story. From my understanding it will be the same as one that was done on a cruise. I could easily be wrong there.

The Hyperion will be dark for quite some time before another show takes its place, unfortunately. I wish they would just let Aladdin run a few months longer, or through the end of the year.

In any case, the new Toy Story musical (which, I think, may be the same show that has run on the DCL cruises) is what's going to replace Aladdin, but not until Spring of next year.:scared1: Toy Story will have a very strong presence in DLR, between the Buzz Lightyear ride in DL, TSMM in DCA and now the Toy Story musical.

We saw the Toy Story show on DCL and it was fantastic! We are looking forward to seeing Aladdin before it closes.

I won't make it down there until November so I wish they'd keep Aladdin longer as well as it's one of my favorite things to see when at the parks.

I only saw it once but I have been intending to get back there and see it again. Aladdin is a great show, and it works for both kids and adults. I don't understand all the behind the scenes workings of what goes into putting on a show and why they have to end one show so long before the next show debuts, but it does seem like an awfully long time to keep the Hyperion dark. If Aladdin closes in August, and Toy Story doesn't debut until Spring (let's say March), that is at least a 7-month gap where nothing (that we know of) will be at the Hyperion!!:scared1: It seems like they would want to stick something in there just for filler until Toy Story comes along. I keep hoping against hope that maybe Disney will wait about 3 months and do a "Back by popular demand for a limited time only - ALADDIN!" when the holiday season starts to kick in (in November).

Does anyone know if the new show will be in place by Christmas 2010?

It's not due until Spring of 2011, I think, unless something changes to make it earlier. That's why I was saying in my above post that it seems like an awfully long amount of time (7 months or more, from August to at least March) that the Hyperion will be dark, with no shows. I was hoping they would drop Aladdin in August and then suddenly 'surprise' us by bringing it back by popular demand for a limited run during the holidays, but that's just wishful thinking - not based on any kind of information.

I suspect the delay in changing from Aladdin to Toy Story is for a couple reasons. I had seen some drawing where the show building is different. I don't know that there will be a lot of changes to the building itself.

But the picture spot with the city background needs to come down or be changed to go with new themeing.

Also I think while it is down in the fall they will use that time to build the tracks for the Red Trolley and take advantage of lower guest traffic flows when they need to close off the street.

We are heading to DL for the first time next March 2011. Will Toy Story be up by then? I heard Cars land will be opening then too. Will they have it up also for March? I know when we head to WDW they try to get these new rides and shows open for March. They try work on them during off season like Jan/Feb.

We don't exactly when Toy Story will debut yet. "Early Spring" was the last I heard, so if they stay on track with that, then March 2011 seems a likely bet. But things are always subject to change or be delayed.

Carsland is not scheduled to be open until some time in 2012. It's the Little Mermaid dark ride that is opening in 2011 (not sure what month, though).

Dark ride? Can you tell me about the Little Mermaid ride? I knew one was going in, but haven't heard details about it.

I haven't heard too much, other than it's called Ariel's Undersea Adventure, and it is supposed to be quite a large-scale spectacle of a dark ride. I am not sure if it will be a lengthy ride, like It's a Small World is, or closer to one of the short and quick dark rides in Fantasyland, but I can't wait!! True, I think a Little Mermaid ride would fit much better inside Disneyland and not in California Adventure, but it's long, long overdue (the movie came out in 1989, didn't it?) so I am happy to have it wherever it is!!

Here is a link to Disneyland's Blue Sky Cellar page, which previews all kinds of upcoming stuff planned for the whole Disneyland Resort. This is specifically the page with the Ariel's Undersea Adventure page/clip:
