I've stayed at AKL now 8 times now and eaten at BOMA for breakfast and dinner too many times to count. I've never had an issue there before but literally could've gotten into two fistfights with people thinking there was a line I was cutting.
Oh..and one of the guests called me *****.

Let's just start putting it out there cause it's obvious these people don't listen when their servers tell them there is no beginning or end of the line when they go up to get their food....

Anyone else have this issue at BOMA or any other WDW restaurants where there is no line? (all the buffets really I think)

And it happens on the Haunted Mansion no matter how many times you're told to move up into all available space before entering the stretch room. People just expect there to be lines and that if you move ahead of them, you are trying to put something over on them. And at buffets there are even those who don't think that if you don't want any salad you should be able to skip that and go straight on to the meat. No, they think that you have to wait until everyone in front of you has finished taking salad, even though you aren't going to take any.

Hasn't happened at a buffet but I needed to empty out my water bottle and clean it before the Wine and Dine half. I saw there was no one at the sinks so I went around the line at the bathroom. Some mama bear spits out "No skipping back of the line" and whipped around and said "I'm not skipping you or your precious child I just need the sink get over yourself." I don't typically get nasty but I wasn't even going into the stalls I just simply went straight to the sinks to do my thing and get in and out and out to my bus to the race start.

Wow.

So there's no line at Boma, and you know from prior experience that people get upset when they THINK you budge but you do it anyway. Then you swear at someone who calls you out on it  ... and NO, "He called me a bad name FIRST!" doesn't cut it.

Sometimes you just have to go with the flow for everyone's happiness even though you know it's going to just waste your time.

Actually as I said..it NEVER happened to me there before. And I didn't swear. And calls me out on what exactly? There's no cutting cause there's no line! LOL..Read my post, or maybe put your glasses on. Actually the server told us even before we went up AND the manager tried to get people to get off the line, explaining there are STATIONS at BOMA and no line. Actually, I follow the rules, they didn't, so they're the ones that needed to go with the flow.

Wow, that's crazy. But, to be fair, I've eaten at Boma countless times and I've never had a server tell me that there are no lines.

What they do is ask if you've been to BOMA before, if you say yes, they don't give their whole regular spiel. If you are new to BOMA, they explain there are stations where different types of foods are offered (soups, salads, yadda, yadda) and there is no need to wait in line.

I'm actually not the first person who was yelled at and the manager told me they are going to have the stations redesigned so be more like actual stations, hoping people will realize there is no line. They've had crowd control people come in numerous times to look at the setup.

:thumbsup2
good for you!!.. it was a dude? omg.. my wife would of torn into him, being publicly correct though since there are little ones usually around and she is an educator so it just comes naturally to her to protect the little ones first.. now if I heard him say this, even to a stranger, it would of gotten nasty until my wife stops me. I'm not into men disrespecting women and don't really tolerate it much.. and if it was someone elderly being called names it is even worse. :furious:

Thank you for understanding! When I told my husband what the man said to me, he was livid. The thing was, I didn't hold them up at all either, they got their oatmeal and continued to wait online (while their food got cold - servers were all like, "why do people want their food to get cold just to wait online to see what's in the next station?".) So, really they were being nasty to me for no reason as I didn't infringe upon them or anyone behind them getting food. Some people just don't know any better and are nasty mean people I guess. I'm not, but call me a B for nothing, and I'll let you have it.

I have eaten at Boma every time we have gone to WDW and every time some TWIT cuts the line. I know that there is not a dedicated Entrance or Exit to the buffet. But lines do form at each station and those lines should be respected. On my last trip three people (including myself) were waiting at the soup station while another person got some soup. A TWIT jumped in front of the person at the station. I called her a “TWIT” (My wife beats me if I say the things that a retired military man wants to say). She looked at me and said “All I want is some soup!” (Me) “We are not the three wise men looking for a big bright star, these are soup bowls we are holding not gifts, get behind us”. She left and went to another station. If you are at Boma in December and someone calls you a TWIT, move to the back of the line.:furious:

OK, I admit that I missed the "never" part, but you should have realized something was wrong when the first person got upset at you that you wouldn't do it a second time. And I would say that calling someone what you did was swearing.

It's not about right or wrong, it's about people's perceptions and obviously TWO people thought your were cutting and were upset enough with you to feel like they were itching for fight.

I'm talking about one big line from the plates all the way through...not one line at one station. There have been many, many times I've waited on a line for soup or at the carving station...I'm sorry you misunderstood my OP. I should have been more clear I guess. But good to know you're not above name calling. LOL.

Lorelei, I suggest you put this behind you and have a great time at WDW :goodvibes.

Actually, I won't. Verbally abusing anyone is wrong.

It'll be great to see how they change the stations at BOMA the next time we're there. Hopefully no other guests will incur the wrath of someone and be verbally abused for not cutting the line to the quinoa.

I think this is the confusion. You mentioned in your OP that you could've gotten into two fistfights, so it could have been interpreted that it happened to you two times that morning. But I'm guessing it was one incident where you wanted to punch the guy who called you a B and whomever he was with?

Yes, I assumed it was two incidences as well.

LOL..NO, I was afraid THEY would punch me in the face, that's how angry they were. Funny, how you also, seem to have switched this around to make me the bad guy/gal.

Good times, DISers, good times. LOL

FWIW, I thought they wanted to punch you :scared:.

Ok, sorry. I wasn't trying to make you the bad guy, I guess I chose my words poorly. I was only trying to show how people might have thought there were two incidents.

no, as I said, I was very shaken up by both of them (but especially the husband). And as I said the manager could see it as I walked back to my table and asked if I was ok. I told her what happened and she said the other night they had people lined up through half of the restaurant even though the servers were telling them there was no need to line up etc.
She also told me that they had crowd control in already to try to solve this problem.
She was very supportive and apologized as she said, no one should have to experience that.

At least she was supportive, not like my fellow DISers.
