repeat ? - 26" Upright bag & SWA limits

The bag will not be overweight nor will it "bow" out in any direction. I get a total measure of 60 inches as best I am able to figure. So that should be ok to check with SWA (62" limit).

Is there anything I could be missing in this measurement that might cause the bag to be oversized? Got the wheels and handles. Anyone with experience with this size bag and SWA?

How are you? Driving myself nuts with 3 days to go. My DH has to physically restrain me from taking everything out of the suitcases and repacking every night!!

And Accuweather keeps changing the forecast. Sunny - cloudy - rainy - cold -warm - cool - so I keep putting more stuff in the bags.

The bag looks so much bigger than what I'm used to but, of course, I usually go in Sept and bring nothing but light clothes & flip flops AND DH is coming & his clothes take up more room and I'm afraid they're gonna whack me with an oversized bag charge which will ruin my vacation from the get go....

OH GOD HELP ME!!!!!

Lol, I totally understand! I'm a re-packer also. What's a trip without a melt down or two prior to leaving.

Every trip I bring way too many clothes and every pair of sandals I own. And every trip I only use about one quarter of what I pack.
DH is used to it.

Enjoy. Good luck with FP+. We had so many problems with ours that they gave us 10 special fastpasses to use anywhere on property but TSM.
I'm sure yours will function better than ours did.

Magic Bands, FP+ for Epcot & MK and a BOG lunch FP, all our ADRs - whatever works, works, whatever doesn't - I'm just not gonna worry about.

Just make sure you don't over pack and go above the 50 pound weight limit.

I flew SW 2 weeks ago, my bag is 28" upright, not even counting the top handle and it was not a problem. The only time I've ever gone over 50 pounds is if I was carrying training manuals for work.

Our luggage is an odd size. It's 33" tall and we've never had a problem.

Funny story though.....checking in once on AirTran, the ticketing agent suggested that next time we pack everything more evenly so the bag wasn't thicker at the bottom. (Of course, the bag is packed laying flat then when we stand it up, everything shifts down a little.) My DH and I gave each other a little smirk when she told us that, and I just told her that I wasn't sure how gravity worked where she lives but at our house, it causes things to shift to the bottom of the bag. She looked at me kind of funny for a minute and then burst out laughing. She begged our forgiveness because it was 5 am and she hadn't yet had any coffee!

Since you're on SW and get 2 bags each, what if you brought another bag? That way you could underpack in each one and have some room for souvenirs on the way back?

For MOST people if you get that bag beyond 50 lbs you cannot lift it. Can you lift the bag? If you're not a serious, competitive weight lifter, it's almost certainly under 50 lbs.

Turn the bag upside down and the measurement in the same place will now be smaller.

Some time ago an Airtran agent decided to rule that someone's bag was oversized for this reason. Good reason (no pun intended) to get there earlier so you can summon a complaint resolution officer (after turning the bag upside down and its measurements are now within limits).

Theoretically the bag should be able to be squeezed without tremendous force in a "size wise" frame with solid but adjustable sides with length, width, and height adding up to not greater than the allowable "total". In reality no such frame exists so a tape measure is the next best method.

As long as its not over weight SW won't care. I've found SW to be the best to deal with they have take my 52 and 53 pound bags before without question. We bring these massive rolling duffles and just don't fill them over 50lbs and we've never had a problem.

I am using a second bag. The issue is I am bringing DD the entire Health & Beauty Aid section of our local grocery store! I am a confirmed couponer & get the stuff practically free so I always load up for her when I go down. This time, it comes to an extra 25 lbs!!! If I have to pay an oversized bag, kind of defeats the purpose. So I have split the bottles (double ziplock bagged) into the 2 bags and put the heavier stuff (like my sneakers) in the smaller bag. Completely stuffed it only weights 22 lbs. The bigger bag is close to 40lbs right now & I need to put 2 pr jeans, 1 pr pjs & some underwear in that one. I don't THINK it'll be over but, just in case, I have an empty carryon inside I can quickly move some stuff to and then check that too. The good news is none of it will be coming back so lots of room for presents & souvenirs.

And I can lift it without killing myself and I am a fat old lady (although lifting my 3 DGSs might qualify as competitve weight lifting!!! )
