Renting water mice at resorts

Just wondering what the age is to rent the small motorboats without an adult at the resorts with marinas and price ???? Staying at the Polynesian and YC so hope dds can enjoy this.....

What is available at the Polynesian marina?

Guests can choose from among a wide variety of watercraft to sail both the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake. Choices include pontoon boats, canopy boats, aquafins, sailboats, or one of the new Water Mouse boats. A resort ID or driver's license is required to rent any watercraft at the marina and children must be 12 years old or older to drive. The marina requires previous sailing experience to operate any of the sailboats. All boating activities from the Polynesian marina operate daily from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm, and close during any inclement weather.

Be careful where you rent-the ones around seven seas lagoon require you to have a valid drivers license in order to operate one of those boats on your own.

The CBR and DTD ones require you to be minimum age 12 and 5 ft tall.

Not sure about others.

You must now be *16* to rent from the MK resorts. There was an accident about a year ago involving younger renters, thus the change. You can be any age to be a passenger, but must be 16 to drive.

I'm not sure abt the non-Mk resorts.

Actually, they changed the rule while we were there a year ago Easter.
You must be 16 at the MK rental areas AND hold a valid drivers license.
DS was 16 but only had a beginners license - he had to have his dad drive.
Major disappointment.

Here is the info from the Disney website

Guests must be at least 12 years old and at least 5 feet tall to drive a Sea Raycer. At Magic Kingdom® area resorts, at least one person in the boat must have a valid driver's license. There is a maximum combined weight of 320 lbs permitted for a Sea Raycer, or 2 passengers. All drivers under the age of 18 MUST have a parent or legal guardian sign a release.

Drivers of canopy or pontoon boats must be 18 years of age. Drivers must provide ID with birth date in order to drive certain watercraft.
