We are staying at the Polynesian this summer and are thinking about renting a boat to ride around the lake. Has anyone ever done this? Is it a worthwhile experience? We saw that there was a boat for two people, but didn't know if you can go back to the dock and exchange passengers on the boat so everyone in a family of four can ride. Thanks! :) :)

My DS5 and I rented the water mice last summer from the WL. We had a BLAST. I admit that I got a bit nervous when you are in a "no wake zone" and the oncoming boat is a HUGE ferryboat coming at you. Talk about a wake. After it happened to us a couple times, we got the hang of it.

It was soo very cool to sit in the boat, in the lake at look at the MK from the different perspective.

I don't know if you can go back to the dock and switch passengers as DD wanted no part of it, so it wasn't an issue with us. :goodvibes

do you have to make reservations for these? How much are they? Do you have a be a guest at the hotel that you're renting at to use them?

I know these are dumb questions, but I'm clueless!!

i think for some of the boats you might want to reserve it in advance...i think theres a # to call...otherwise when you check in at your resort..you can do it then
not sure about if you have to be a resort guest, but im gonna lean more towards a "yes"

I want to know about switching riders too. We'll have two adults and a child in our group and I know our son will want to switch riding with each of us.

Hi
My DH and I rented a pontoon boat at the Grand Floridian in December. This was a birthday surprise for him. We were going to rent the sea raycers, but the weight limit is 250 lbs. I think, and together, we were over it. We could've taken it out by ourselves, but we wanted to ride together. The pontoon boat was so much fun. It's so easy to drive. My DH was really surprised that we were renting a boat, since I get really seasick in boats. I didn't and when we got back to the dock, I told the CM that was tying our boat, that it was DH's birthday. He told the cashier and the cashier tore up our bill. He said "it's on the house". That was a great $45.00 present.

We rented the sea raycers last April when we were at the Poly on our last day. It turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. We split the time for two of our sons. It was no problem. My DH took the older one out came back about half way through our time and took the younger one out. The oldest who was 14 at the time got to drive as long as an adult driver was with him. The views were amazing! It was a blast!!

We've rented the Sea Raycers at the Poly and the YC and were not staying at either of those resorts.
