Renting Villa from UK owners

Has anyone rented a villa or vacation home from owners or a company that is located or based in the UK? Just looking for feedback on the renting process.

I haven't but when I did rent villas I found invaluable information on the Orlando Hotels and Attractions board.

On a couple of occassions I rented from www.closesttodisney.com has been 3 years but had good luck with them in the past.

I had a very positive experience renting a villa from UK owners. They had a company we could call in Orlando for any concerns and there wasn't a problem. We loved it and are renting a villa in Orlando from another UK owner next March.

About 1 year ago I had a trip with my DW, DS, and my parents, and my DSis. We stayed in a rental home arranged by my Dad with a UK owner. I didn't make the arrangements myself but he was quite happy with the whole process and it definitely was a nice way to go for a group of our size. There was a local caretaker in case of any problems. There's a huge aount of UK owned rental homes so it's not an unusual to be renting from overseas like this. The Publix supermarket near the house carried UK newspapers, since there were so many Bits staying in the area. Having a pool of our own and a number of rooms to spread out in was great, although the drive to WDW was a little more time consuming than being on site.

We now own DVC so we probably won't do the rental home again, but I would not hesitate to recommend considering this option to others.

Have you considered renting points from a DIS board member on the DVC rental board?

That way you'll be right on WDW property.

I have rented recently and the process was painless.

...all owner-direct.

Anyway, the OV site family (the first 3 on the above list) are all sister sites, and the homes listed there are "verified" by the website owners...meaning, every few months, homeowners have to send in verification that they still own the home (utility bill, etc), otherwise their listing is pulled.

All of the villas we've rented in the past have been with UK owners.

We rented a villa two years ago from a couple in the UK. They were super nice and we had a lovely holiday in their home in High Grove. We found them on the www.orlandovillas.com website listed above.

This coming March we are also renting a condo in Windsor Hills and we contacted this owner throught he Windsor Hills main website. It looks nice and we are excited about staying there
