Hello
we are seriously considering booking a week at the Poly next year and I see a lot of talk of renting points.. I'm not sure if I can mention the site here however I think most of you will know the one of speaking of.

I know you don't get the perks of having your room cleaned and you can't cancel once booked but outside of that it looks like we can get a really really good deal especially with booking so far out...

any feedback, insight, experience?

thanks in advance

Make sure that you get cancel for any reason travel insurance. I had spent 5,000 in rented points two years ago. I ended up hospitalized and couldn’t go on the trip. Without the travel insurance, it would have been a huge loss!

The thing about renting points is that its non-negotiable. Once you book it & pay for it - you cannot change it. So make sure you can absolutely go during that time frame & use a reputable site when booking.

There is significant savings to be had vacationing this way. :) I think we ended up saving 50% if we had paid for a deluxe room.

I rented last year - the Poly was not available. Ended up staying at BLT.

The Boardwalk is still my ultimate favorite WDW Resort.

For that trip, we used tru travel. They were a nationwide insurance company. They ended up being rolled back into nationwide. The insurance company was great although the point rental company refused to respond to their email confirming that point rentals were non refundable. Since it was cancel for any reason they just promptly refunded my money a few weeks later. I’ve since used both Nationwide and Roam Right with no issue whatsoever. The company that wouldn’t respond to their email was NOT a board sponsor.

So your overall resort experience was the same as if you booked directly from Disney?

Would you say the site named after the boy who killed goliath is good ?

Ive had excellent experiences with the site named after the boy who killed Goliath. It was a different one that I had difficulty with both misspelling my name on the reservation and not responding to the insurance company. The only major difference between CRO and point rental stays are limited mousekeeping and strict no cancellation policies. You still get magic express, magic bands , 60 day fp......

I just used the site named after TBWKG to rent points for a stay in 2019.Was my first time renting points.
They were great to deal with, got me exactly the resort and dates I wanted. I priced the trip in Jan of this year
booking through Disney. Saved around 55% booking the rented points.:cool1::banana::banana:

Thank you

The DVC villas are timeshares. The experience will not be identical to staying in the hotels. A studio (with the exception of OKW) will consist of a queen-size bed and a sleeper sofa, which can be either full- or queen-size. Some studios also have a pull-down murphy bed which is smaller than a twin bed. Because it is a timeshare, the villas are not refurbished as often as the hotel rooms, so they are sometime a little more "worn" than the hotel rooms.

You will not get daily housekeeping. Fresh towels are not provided daily. Coffee, paper products and toiletries will not be replenished each morning. Trash should be removed daily as a part of Disney's new room-check policy but don't count on it.

If you want to make a specific room request, it has to be done by the DVC member who provided the reservation. Magic Express reservations should also be done by the member.

You will have all of the privileges of any other onsite guest - DME, EMH, ADRs at 180+10, FP+ at 60 days prior to arrival. You will have access to your resort's pools and other guest areas. You will not have any of the perks that a DVC owner enjoys.

Oh for pity's sake!!!

It's David's!!!!! We're allowed to say it. They are a disboard sponsor!!!! Let's all stop tiptoeing around the name and offering cryptic clues.
https://www.dvcrequest.com/default.asp (AKA "David's Vacation Club Rentals")

When you're discussing a business, we actually want you to use the URL. That way there's no worries for you about mentioning a name, because our site filter will automatically replace the URL of any business that can't be discussed here with stars - like this: www.************com.

There's absolutely no problem with mentioning David's Vacation Club Rentals; as mentioned above, they're sponsors of the DISboards and are talked about often.

Thanks Lynne

We booked our last trip through David's. We stayed at AKL for a week using rented points. I have nothing but good things to say. It saves so much money! We plan to use them again for our next trip (crossing our fingers for the Poly!).

We rent points for every trip and have never had a problem. The past few years we have used the rent/trade section in the DVC forum. We only rent from people who have been disboard members for awhile and have been active on the boards though.

Thanks all!
I'm excited now
I got to thinking. .. we have a timeshare in Orlando that we enjoy so I'm used to taking out the trash no cleaning service etc so we'll be fine
We always extend our trip by an extra 5 or so days (we stayed at AOA) and local Orlando hotels but since we haven't been the past 2 years we are in full Disney withdrawal and always wanted to stay at the Poly
Keeping my fingers crossed
The deluxe studio looks really nice !
