Renting/Transferring borrowed points?

We might not be able to take our trip this summer, but we were going on December 2008 use year points. Is it possible to rent or transfer borrowed points?

You can rent your borrowed points but I don't think you can transfer them to another owner. Transfer are suppose to be current UY points. So renting may be your only option if you don't make your trip.

Brownie is correct -- you cannot transfer borrowed points to another member. Renting is OK because you are not renting the points, you are renting a reservation that you make with the points and it doesn't matter if those points are current, banked, borrowed or were transferred to you from another member.

You could borrow points to complete a rental, but it seems like a pretty shaky strategy to me. There's enough risk in a regular rental where you have ample time to bank if a cancellation occurs. Borrowing just adds risk for the owner.

Borrow points for a rental and then they cancel, and you could be stuck with some badly distressed points.

The points have already been borrowed-- I wouldn't borrow to rent out--- I see what you're saying. Unfortunately we borrowed for this trip (we have a trip booked for June--- but I just realized I need to take classes this summer in order to graduate from my RN program next May), and if we don't use them by Nov. 30th, we lose them.

Well then, you're in pretty good shape. You have almost a year to either use the points or rent them.
