Renting/transfer point questions

Hi Everyone!,

I have been a DVC member since 2004. I never realized people were renting their extra points. I lost 70 points one year and this year I have * points that I will not be able to use. I would love to sell or transfer them.

However, I am worried because I thought we weren't supposed to rent points for money. It seems like so many are doing it so I thought I would take the risk (of what I don't know)

My question is, how does one set up the payment plan. I read to expect a deposit before you send out the confirmation of the reservation. How much though? Half, one third?

Also when do people expect the final amount?
What about cancellation? If they cancel even 30 days prior then I only have 30 days to try to rent again and do I need to give the money back.

My brain is going a million miles an hour.

Renting is allowed per the POS.

Accepting money for transferring points is not - but is done.
 
So those points can't be banked either? It sounds like you have more points than you need.
 
Normally we go every two years and the points work out great. Christmas 2008 we did a big trip and included my mother. We borrowed points from 2009. then I banked them. now I have to bank my points from this year to next year for my trip in august 2011 so I ended up with these extra points. It will probably never happen again.
