Hi, everyone: We're still new at this...altho I've learned a ton in the 3 months I've owned by reading these boards...thank you all so much. We've already got 3 trips planned (all of 2006 points, and most of 2007's already used...I'm now "forcing myself" to wait til I've actually done one or two of our three upcoming trips before I consider adding on!!!)...

I have a question I guess I could ask my guide, or even the CMs at MS, but thought it would be interesting to read what you-all think...

I own 150 SSR points, and I have a good friend who owns at BWV. My friend would like to do a stay at SSR, and we would like to do T-giving, 2007, at BWV (we think--we'll know for sure after we do T-giving 2006 at SSR...but Christmas at Epcot is magical even beyond Disney's normal magic, at least to us, so while we love love love SSR, we would like to be walking distance to Epcot next T-giving)...

Anyway...my friend has already agreed to make us a BWV reservation at the beginning of the 11-month window; and I've agreed to make a reservation for him (of equal points value) at SSR at the time of his choice.

The question is: will my friend have to do all the dealings w/MS on our T-giving 2007 reservation on his points at BWV? (And we'll have to do all his dealings w/MS on his reservation on our points at SSR?). We're both members and entitled to call MS on our own...will my reservation on my friend's points show up under "my vacation details" on the member website? (and his on our points on his site?)

Bottom line: when DVC members trade home resort points, does DVC treat it as dealing w/a member, or dealing w/a "renter" (or guest)?

Thanks...

Yes, if you exchange ressies in that way, you will make his ressie at the 11 month window at your resort, and he will make your ressie at the 11 month window at his resort. They are his points, so he is in control of them, just like you are in control of your points.

I believe the question was probably related to called MS for adding dining, etc.
Anyone know if a member can check on a ressie in their name but under another member's number?

While you would not be able to make material changes to the reservation made by your friend, you should still have access to all other services provided by MS like ADR's etc. You won't likely be able to make changes regarding the resort, room type, dates or names on the reservation unless they were made using your points, but other things can still be done thru MS- you are, after all, a member yourself.

In this case, I would think that MS would even confirm the existence of the reservation for you using the reservation number provided by your friend. Otherwise, you still won't have actual control over the reservation itself.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the info! My friend is one of those hugely busy people who would certainly make calls for me if I asked, but I'd hate to ask...so it would be nice if I could add the DDP and ME myself...of course I could just "have my ducks in a row" before he makes the call...but it's nice to know I can do that sort of thing on my own...

And I think I just "tripped" over the fact that MS can make ADRs for us, too? I've been calling WDW-DINE for all of our ours for our three upcoming DVC trips...(that works just fine by the way)...had no idea MS could do that for us! CooL!

Tell me again we'll love "our" Disney as much or more as DVC guests as we have for 15 years as "plain ol' regular guests!" We just LOVE LOVE LOVE Disney!!!

I rented to a fellow member and she cannot check on the reservation in anyway shape or form. She can't even confirm it even though she is a member. As per the new rules calling MS.

You cannot add DDP or ME on a reservation under your friend's member number, sorry. Your friend will have to do it now.
