Renting "SOME" Developer points

So, I'm very new to DVC (just purchased last month), and of course we got the SSR developer points. We are thinking of travelling next July for 5 nights, which would cost us 180 points (of our 200).

Is it possible (probable) to rent the other 20 points? I would hate to just leave them on the table, but I don't really want to use 48 of our "regular" points just to stay an extra night.

If they are "rentable", how would you book for someone if they are using points from multiple renters? Or is that even done?

I think I understand the whole renting thing (for normal points), but they developer points kind of confuses me.

TIA

You do not really rent points, you rent a reservation. (Once you get into your "real" points you could rent a transfer where use of the points gets transferred into another members account, buy you and the renter are limited to one in or out transfer per year)
I'm fairly sure that you could book 2 reservations on your developer points. You would just give MS the name of the renter(s) on that seperate 20 point reservation.

You may have a fairly limited market because that rented reservation would have to be all the points needed for one (or more) SSR day(s). i.e. the renter cannot add cash or their points to rent a bigger room on top of your points

You can definitely split the use of your Developer Points, for multiple trips for your family -or- for your family and a renter. And you can definitely rent 20 points. But (and it is a big but!) you need to realize that the pool from which to find renters is going to be significantly smaller. You cannot make a reservation more than 7 months in advance, your guests will only be able to stay at SSR or Disneyland's Paradise Pier, and 20 points will only buy one night (or two if you kick in a few "regular points") at SSR or DL-PP. There are people looking for just one night, usually to complete an existing reservation or before a cruise, so it can be done. Because of these limitations you may also have to rent at a discounted rate, so is it worth the effort to you for $200? Only you can answer this question!

I have the same problem.

I have 22 developer points left over that expire in June.

We were able to use our Developer Points to book the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim for next April. I believe they are good at any of the three Disneyland resorts, not just Paradise Pier.

But I'm in the same boat as the OP. I have 10 leftover points and I have to figure out what to do with them, as we don't have another trip to WDW planned until after they expire.

The reason that I only listed only Paradise Pier is because both the Disneyland Hotel and the Grand Californian take more than 20 points for any one night at any time of year. Yes, you could use Developer Points at either, but 20 or fewer will not get you even one night!

As for your 10, there is nothing to do with them since the cheapest night at SSR takes 11. The only way to use them (or rent them!) is if you are willing to combine them with "regular" points.
