I finally got all my questions written down to ask and appreciate any help that the "DVC Know Hows" can give :goodvibes

Points. How does the Weekly point rate work? Is it Sun-Thurs?
We are looking at Wednesday, October 22, 2008 to Saturday, November 1, 2008 (a week and a half). Would the Weekly points consist of Sunday, 10/26 to Thursday, 10/30? As you can tell, I'm totally confused at how this works, LOL.

DDP. We've used the DDP last year and found it definately worth the money. But that was while staying at Pop. How does it work when renting DVC points? Same price for the Basic DDP per adult and child? We are aware of the changes for 2008 and that we would need to pay it in full once we arrive.

Park Tickets. Do we need to go through the Owner, or can we purchase these on our own?

AKL. What is the difference between the Value one bedroom and the Standard one bedroom? I know the difference between Standard and Preferred is the location, but I have no idea what a Value one bedroom consists of or the location.

Thanks!

I can help with a couple of these questions:

The points for a week are actually the points for each of the seven days added together. Friday and Saturday nights are more points than Sunday through Thursday. So just add up the points for each of the days of the week that you desire to go and that will provide the total necessary.

Park tickets cannot be purchased through the DVC member. You can purchase your tickets on your own or upon arrival if you so desire.

I believe there was also a change in pricing for DDP from 2007 to 2008. Perhaps someone else can confirm if that has been announced for DVC... You will need to purchase the plan for all occupants for the entire length of stay as well. The DVC member would need to add this to your ressie and you would pay upon checkin.

Carol did a nice job with your other questions, so I'll jump in for this one. Actually, I'll refer you to this thread for a description of the differences.

CarolAnneC - Thanks for the info. That really helps clear up my misunderstanding. I'm also happy that we can buy the park tickets on our own. It means we can go to our local Disney store to purchase them :woohoo:. After we are locked in of course.

DH just joined the DISboards over the weekend, so I have a better understanding of how the DDP for 2008 has changed than he does. I just don't know if it's the same price all around or not.

Granny - thanks for the link to that thread :thumbsup2 . I copied the one answer I needed and pasted it to Word so I can print it out to show DH.

One other question that I just thought of. How easy is it to check out from one of the regular resorts (ex. a Moderate) and check in to a rented villa? DH will be down in Disney from 10/18/08 to 10/22/08 for a conference. He will most likely have "room only" reservations at CBR for that duration. Then our DS, my mom and I will be flying down to meet up with him for vacation starting on the 22nd. How does he get from a resort to a villa?

He can have his luggage transfered by Disney, and he can hop a bus to any park and then take a bus from that park to the resort you will be renting at.

I....DDP. We've used the DDP last year and found it definately worth the money. But that was while staying at Pop. How does it work when renting DVC points? Everything is the same (including the price) except that DVC members do not have to buy tickets or stay a minimum number of nights to buy the Dining Plan. The owner needs to call MS to add the DP to your reservation before you arrive if you want to buy the plan.

The actual workings of the DDP (number of credits, how they are used, what you get, etc.) are exactly the same as the CRO/WDWTC plan.

AKL. What is the difference between the Value one bedroom and the Standard one bedroom? I know the difference between Standard and Preferred is the location, but I have no idea what a Value one bedroom consists of or the location.

The value category has smaller units. The standard view one bedrooms and larger units have a sleep chair in the living room. Thus they can officially accommodate one more than the value units. IIRC, a value unit may have either a garden/pool view or a savanna view (luck of the draw. Requests are taken but not guaranteed). The standard view rooms all have a garden/pool view.

If I'm wrong about the views, someone else will correct me.

Most of the Value rooms face the Sunset Savanna or the pool but there are a few that face the parking lot.

The Standard View villas in Jambo House face the pool area. The Standard View villas that will be built in Kidani Village (opening in 2009) will have a view of a pool, garden or parking lot.

Thank you very much for answering my questions! Everyone has been very helpful and DH and I are very appreciative.

dianeschlicht - thank you for the clarification. I figured transfering from CBR or POR to a Villa would be the same as transfering to a different resort. I just needed that confirmation. Thanks :goodvibes
