Hi...i have just rented out my points to two families. I stipulate that payment must be made to me through paypal. The first family have paid straight away through paypal just the day after I made the ressie.
Now the second lady seems to having trouble knowing how to pay through paypal..:confused3 ..I sent her the details 10 days ago..basically my hubbys email which is his paypal account also...I thought it was straight forward to pay via paypal..don't you just go to there site and follow the directions?
Iam no expert though...:)
The renter says she has e mailed paypal and spoke to them but is still unable to figure out how to use her credit card to pay.
She has an account with paypal.as she sells cloths on e bay but it won't let her use her credit card?
I've rented before and the other renters were able to use a CC ebven if they had no account with paypal.
Does anyone have any advice I can give to this renter on how to use paypal?::yes::

Thanks..:thumbsup2

IF your buyer is being honest with you, she is probably not filling in the credit card portion correctly. If she is NOT being honest with you, she's stalling for time!

Log in to PayPal, click on the Profile tab, which gives you (among other options) to add or edit credit card. You then have the option to "Add a Card". The next step is pretty simple, fill our your cc info - and make sure you get the CVN number too (some people don't know what this is) - as well as your billing address. That's it. There's nothing more to it.

I suspect what the other poster said . . . she may be stalling. Ask her what her error message is (if she has one), or at what point is she confused entering data. She would get an error if she didn't fill something in correctly, telling her what to correct.

Sounds fishy to me. I can understand someone not familiar with paypal having issues, but this sounds more like a stall. If she uses it all the time she already has an account set up and probably even a credit card on file with paypal. Putting one on file also is a pretty easy task, especially if she has an existing account.

I wouldn't be too quick to jump to conclusions on this one. Some people are more Internet savvy than others. Just because she sells on eBay doesn't necessarily mean she knows how to buy. If it's feasible, you might want to get on the phone with her and walk her through the process.

Or...just have her send you a check. I assume you have plenty of time prior to her arrival.

I believe PP does not allow her to chose the credit card option if she is carrying a balance on her PP account. She should transfer any monies in her PP account out to her bank account (takes 3-4 days) then she will see her cc being listed as a payment option (IF she has added a cc to her account, of course). She can always pay part from her PP account, but the rest will come from her bank account, not her cc, and she may not want/can afford to have that happen.

She may or may not be stalling, I don't know, but PP is not as simple as many people make out.

While your first statement is true, you can always change to pay by CC instead of from you account balance. You do have to be varified to do that though. I often go in and change my settings if I want to pay someone with a CC instead of my PP funds. Also, if she is varified, she will have a bank account on file with PP which she can have the funds directly deducted from as well.

This may sound silly, but I like to never figured out how to pay with a CC. Now, it is no big deal. My niece had to come over one day and help me. If, I do have a balance in my PP account, it will take the money first, then put the remainder on the CC. I have to clear my cash when I am really wanting to use my CC. Now, if there is another way, I need to know about it.

I would call her and walk her through it. Just assume she is being honest. I rented to someone on this board, she called me one day in a tiss, She could not get PP to except her CC. It took a few days. I believed her. I really have never had a problem with someone paying, I always give the benefit of the doubt.

I wouldn't read too much into it. My Dad's a smart guy, but for the life of him can't figure out how to send PayPal.

Unless you are in a super hurry for the money, just have the person send you a personal check. Other than speed, PayPal does nothing for you - and puts you at risk for the renter disputing the payment with PayPal and causing you all sorts of headaches.
