Renting pts through David's and travel insurance?

I don't know where to post this question so I'll start here... If I should go elsewhere please point me in the right direction if you can... My family rented a weeks long stay at AKV through David's, And now I am concerned that I will not be able to purchase travel insurance to cover that portion of our trip. I keep getting conflicting information from the travel insurance companies where sometimes the service rep will say no we will not cover your stay because it is a time share and only the owner who redeposits points would be covered... And a few times with the exact same company but with different customer service representatives have said yes your stay is absolutely covered ... with David's rentals there are no refunds whatsoever regardless of the reason for a cancellation... So my question is does anyone have any experience where you can purchase travel insurance for rented points from a broker in a time share environment as the renter where a claim was filed for cancellation and it was covered? If so, which company was used? Thank you in advance for your help!

Did you have any luck with this? I am in a simular situation so I am curious if you have any information that you could share with me.

Try Access America by Allianz. They do not cover DVC points. They should cover your out of pockets costs. I am sure David's gives you an invoice that shows how much you paid, your dates & your deposit date.
If not Travel Gaurd by Chartis covers DVC points.

I'm not an insurance broker, so take this with a large pile of salt, but...

David gives you a contract that specifies the payment schedule, and clearly states that all payments are non-refundable. That the DVC owner might be able to redeposit the points isn't really material to *your* transaction, because your transaction is between you and David. Having the contract should help in this situation---just submit it along with everything else if you can't go on the trip for a covered reason.

I'm still investigating...David's will not give "advice" on this issue and understandably so. I am in the process of navigating all of what "Insuremytrip.com" has to offer, but all of the insurance offers by various companies aren't available to me yet, since my trip is still more than 6 months out. Another poster indicated that we get an invoice from David's...which is true and one insurance company told me that is all I needed since they cover the "cost" of the item as opposed to the "item" itself. However, it varies, company by company. As I get closer and more insurance companies become available to us, I'll find your post again and let you know what they say. I was just hoping that someone out there in DIS land had perhaps not just purchased coverage, but also used it in this scenario...buying it is one thing and having it pay a claim is a totally different animal:) If you come across anything substantial, it would be terrific if you could keep me in the loop as well. Thanks

I know nothing about this company personally, as I have never rented points.

However at least it seems they do address the specifics of Timeshare rentals and what you would need to file a claim for a covered reason (of course),

Of course the blog was written in 2009, I would definitely call and make sure that info is still current.

I did not see Debbie's post, it is the same company.
