I can't seem to find the answer to this question anywhere, but let's say I knew I wasn't going to travel for two years. Could I borrow all of my 150 points from the next year and then rent 300 points (this years and next) to a third party like davids at the same time? Or do they only let you borrow when you're booking a reservation and need more points. Thanks!

Yes. :)

You can’t borrow until you make a reservation but you can advertise that you will have the 300 that can be used for a rental.
Oh so like if you make a reservation and then cancel it then the points will be in the current use year to rent if needed?

Correct. But, if the purpose is renting, then you don’t have to make a reservation first.

Just let the broker find the renter for your points and you book an on demand reservation based on what is wanted.

Once borrowed the points can’t be returned. So, if you do it and then don’t rent, the points could be lost.

Yes but points are then stuck in that use year in a use or lose it situation.

That is why it would be best to advertise say you have up xx amount of points to rent as you’re not locking them in.

You said in the example not traveling for two years so really you only have to worry about renting 150 points and then banking the other 150 for year 3 to have more points to play with.

Yes, one thing to note is you actually do the renting, not the rental company, they just find the customer for you. You still have to make the reservation, etc for them. So you just let David's, or DVCRentalCo know how many points you want to put up for rent, then they'll let you know when they find a buyer/renter.

Not only do they find the renter, they first check to see if it is even available to book. Much easier that way then looking and having to say sorry it’s not available for your dates…
