I hope this is on the right board...I tried to read all of the sticky's and this looked like the place it should be.

I have a few questiona about renting points that I hope you can help me with

1) Is it more difficult for a UK resident to rent from a US resident? Or does it make no difference who I rent from?

2) Can I rent points to use at an overseas resort? For example I'm looking at renting 100 points for use at Disneyland Paris (far cheaper for me to rent the points needed for the Disneyland Hotel than to pay for it) is this again going to cause me any problems?

Thanks all...and please move this if it's in the wrong place :goodvibes

Interesting question. There are certainly challenges involved that make it unfavorable for most renters.
You do not rent points, but instead rent a reservaion (in the points owner's control)
You may experience time zone (end of your day is MS opening, so it is less a challenge than Australia) and currency differences (I'm guessing PayPal is OK)
FYI there is a $95 fee for making a non-DVC reservation, you also get that fee everytime you change anything on the reservation (change days, names...)

Once an owner makes the non-DVC reservation, that is a final points transaction for them, those points can no longer be used in DVC. For most DVC points renters your proposal is much less than ideal and would require 100% payment at reservation. But, this might work to your benefit in a few select cases. Say if a DVC owner cancels a Disney Cruise on points, those cruise points are restricted (reservation?) points and can only be used on non-DVC Disney (that I think includes Disneyland Paris) so there may be a few select cases of even better deals because distressed points usually rent for less (but they have a smaller window of usage before they expire)...

There are UK DVC owners, but that makes for a smaller rental pool..

Also, in the case of DL-Paris, they require you to purchase park tickets for the entire length of stay for everyone on your party when you make the reservation.
