Renting Points

Can someone give me an indepth about HOW this is done? I did as was suggested and got my point statement. It is a bit confusing. I've discovered that we have 108 points to work with on our next trip, which is basically enough points to get two studios for 4 nights. Which leaves the other four nights. What I'd like to do is stay at the Wilderness Lodge for the first 4 nights then move to either the villas, if we can get in, or the boardwalk. BUT my friends asked if we could somehow get more points so I'd like to know about renting. I don't want to borrow this time because I really know we're going to need those points worse on the next trip as it'll probably be a big family trip. I want to take my new nephew for his first Disney trip, so I want to have points to use towards that, hence my not wanting to borrow.

Sooo, if someone can explain how the whole rental thing works I'll be able to sit down with hubby and our friends and we can figure out what will work best for us.

Thanks for the link. The only other questions I have are, how far in advance do you rent the points? Can it be the 11 months out to get the reservation. And for those who have rented would you do it again, or just go ahead and book into a resort? I'm really leaning towards booking into the Lodge, but, cost will make a difference.

Unless you want to reserve at a DVC resort, you can likely find a better rate with a cash reservation through CRO. Even there, if you are looking at any resort on a Fri or Sat, a cash reservation will probably save $$.

If you are looking for a DVC resort room, it may be reserved up to 11 months ahead from a DVC member with home priorities at that resort. You can post your needs on the Rent/Trade Board and see what offers you may get or respond to a listing by a member.

Thanks Doc . After last year I thought I wouldn't want to move resorts during the middle of the vacation and was determined to stay all in one place this year which we did and worked out great, but I'm dying to stay at the WL again so I think I'll try to talk the friends into that idea, 4 nights at WL and then move to either BWV or hopefully WLV. At the worst, I'm sure I can get them to agree to the AllStars again . Maybe even Port Orleans.
