Ok, so our plan is to rent points to stay in a villa, and to do the Y.E.S. program and take advantage of the discounted tickets. Also, we will pay for the dining plan to be added onto our DVC stay, which doesn't require you buy tickets to add the dining plan. Has anyone done it this way before? I never have, and just want to make sure I won't have any problems doing it this way. THere are no blocks are anything from buying DP if I am buying Y.E.S. tickets, right? Hoping someone has done this and can reassure me! We are excited that this option will allow us to stay at AKV, rather than the ASSports that we had booked.

Yes, you can do Y.E.S. and get ddp..They are not tied together.

It sounds to me like you are wanting to save money..Why do the DDP? other than convenience..It usually does not save money.

If you are in a villa, I would recommend using your kitchen to eat breakfast in your room every day. Then eat out the rest. You should still come out ahead than with purchasing ddp

Just my 2cents :)

Enjoy your vacation!

Yeah, I know that DDP may not save us any money, but we very much like the convenience! We also enjoy eating wherever and whatever we want without worrying about how much we are spending...the DDP was designed with people like us in mind! We would never go spend $250+ for our family of four to eat at Yachtsman, but you can bet we would go spend our points on it! I know the logic is faulty, but we enjoy it!
We do buy breakfast to eat in our room. LTT was my favorite place to eat, so I can't wait to go back, and Yachstman was at my DH request, he really liked it.

When are you going? There may not be individual enrollment for the YES program during your stay. And you might also want to be aware that there are changes in store for Individual Enrollment for YES in 2013.

ETA: Is the trip in your ticker the one that you're planning to do all of this for? If so, you may really run into problems. Three months is considered to be short notice for DVC. You may not be able to get the room or resort that you want at this time. If you're flexible with your dates and the resort, it will probably work out. If you're comparing AKV rooms to ASSp, I'm assuming that you're pinning your hopes on a AKV Value studio. You might be disappointed to learn that there are not too many of them and they usually book up 11 months out. Getting one at 3 months out is not likely.

sorry to hijack the thread but what changes are coming in 2013? We were considering YES tickets as an option for our trip next year. We were just waiting for them to release the class dates

nevermind looks like they released them since I checked last. I'll go read up thanks!

thanks. I saw 2013 with January and February and just assumed they were listed. I didn't look further since our dates are past that and there were no prices. Off to look

We planned our June 2012 trip this way and it worked out great. We purchased tickets through the YES Individual Enrollment program, rented points to stay at BWV, and added the DDP. It was a wonderful trip!

Even though it seems that the discount won't be as good as years past, we plan to purchase YES tickets again for our January trip. Just waiting on registration for Individual Enrollment to open.

thats our plan! We will be there Jan 21-26. We will be booking akv- kidani standard, as that is all that is available. Would have liked BWV...maybe next time!
