Renting points for High Demand times

Is it generally possible to rent points for high demand times such as Christmas? It seems most of the points for rent tend to be last minute situations, sometimes a couple of months before expiration. In which case, it really doesn't seem as home resort matters much since it is even within the 7 mth window. So by the time points are up for rent do you find these times booked up and unattainable?

Points rent in a few different ways - if what you want is Christmas - you'll want to plan a year out and look for an owner who will make a Christmas reservation for you. You point a reservation wanted thread.

Owners post "points for rent" or alternative "reservation for rent" threads. Reservations for rent here are always short notice because the people in charge don't want to encourage speculative renting. These tend to be cases where someone made a reservation, now has to cancel, and would rather rent that reservation than end up with points in holding. Points for rent threads go up when the owner determines they won't be using their own points and need to rent them - in some cases that's eleven months out or more, in other cases that's short notice.

For that reservation you do want to look for an owner a year in advance who will make a reservation specifically for you.
