renting points for AKV december 09 ?

Hi. I really want to stay at the AKV. What are my chances of being able to rent points for December '09 TIA

You have to find someone with that many points who is willing to book 11 months in advance for you. I don't know 11 months in advance that I'm going to have that many extra points, but maybe some do. I also wouldn't bother with a reservation that I had to call at the 11 month mark to make for a renter. But, then again, I'm not really willing to bother renting at all. I prefer transfering points to fellow owners if I have extra.

In other words, it's possible but probably difficult to find someone with that many points who is willing to call 11 months in advance for you.

Start posting your wishes on the rent trade board about early December this year. You want to make sure you rent from an AKV owner who can make reservations right at the 11 month booking window (January 8, 2009) for that ressie. Since it is a limited catagory (standard view), it will be imperative that you do this right at 11 months booking window. Bear in mind that not all of your trip will be allowed to be booked at once. You will be able to book the first 7 nights, but you will have to wait to book the last two, and run the risk of them no longer being available.

Kidani Village is supposed to be completely open by your travel dates so there will be a lot more rooms available at AKV at that time than there are now. About 80% of the resort is Savanna View so by booking Standard View the pool of rooms will be smaller so it will be important to find an owner willing to call on Jan 8th when the booking window opens for your dates. The Standard View rooms in Jambo House face the pool area. Those in Kidani Village will face the pool or have views of the road and parking area.

In relation to this thread, we are planning a trip for DH 40th b-day in June 2009 and are looking at Animal Kingdom for a 2bdrm for possibly three nights.....will Kidani Village be completed by then or only limted availability. Can owners at other resorts (ours is SSR)book at 7 month window in Kidani?

Yes you can book 7 months out with your SSR points. Kidani will not be completed by your dates since the part furthest from Jambo House will not open until Sep 2009. Also only the rooms declared into AKV can be booked on points so it's not clear how many rooms will be available when the resort first opens. Owners can begin calling on Aug 10th. Non-owners can call 7 months from their check-in date, which would be 10/1/09 or later for check in dates of 5/1/09 or later.

You should book your home resort 11 months out to be sure you have a place to stay and then call as soon as MS opens 7 months from check-in and see if you can book AKV instead. I think there are a lot of AKV owners looking to switch their reservations from Jambo House to Kidani so while Kidani may be difficult to book, there may be space in Jambo House.
