Renting points at AKL

I am looking to book AKL for 3 nights May 1-4. If I was to look into renting points, what kind of price range would I be looking at? We only need a studio, as only 3 of us would be going. Does not matter if it is Jambo or Kidani. I am open to view options for price comparison.

It looks like there are 4 different booking categories for a studio at AKV:

For May 1 - 4, the points needed are:

Value: 36
Standard: 43
Savannah: 55
Club: 64

You can probably expect to pay anywhere from $10-$14 per point depending upon who you rent from (just multiply the number of points needed by the amount per point). Hope that helps.

Thank you! I've checked out the David's website, but it requires a 44 point minimum, so depending what we decide, that may not work. Also, not interested in Club level, so that only leaves us with one option. Where else can I check? I put a post on the DVC rent/trade board as well.

I don't think you can post "wanted" threads for rentals on the rent/trade board, so that might get deleted, but just watch that board for who has points for rent. Since you need such a minimal amount, it shouldn't be too hard to find someone, although I'm sure some people have minimums just like David. Since you are more than 7 months out from your rental date right now, the only person who can check availability and rent for you is someone who actually owns at AKV. Once you hit the 7 month mark, anyone who owns DVC at any resort can do this for you. I think you'll have a lot of luck in the next couple of weeks.

Thank you! I've checked out the David's website, but it requires a 44 point minimum, so depending what we decide, that may not work. Also, not interested in Club level, so that only leaves us with one option. Where else can I check? I put a post on the DVC rent/trade board as well.

Sometimes he lets you rent with less points. We once only needed 41 points or something similar to that number and we were able to do so. It never hurts to ask.

I did not post a request for points, I just posted questions.

You probably won't get the value villa nor the club level villa this late. You need to book both of those at 11 months out. But you should be able to book standard or savanna view.

Oh, and if you get any private messages or emails from someone offering to rent you points, don't do it. The moderators have asked Disser's to let them know about any of these attempts to bypass their system. And it can be a way to scam someone who isn't as knowledgeable about the process.

Just an FYI, if this was posted on one of the DVC forums the dates would be deleted out by a moderator. If you ask questions on those forums keep it in general terms. I know you are just asking questions, but they will still delete that part of your post.

Good luck with finding what you are looking for. Renting is a wonderful option! Keep in mind that if you are doing a rental transaction with an individual, there are things you will want to know upfront. Most transactions are final and you will probably not be able to cancel and get your money back. The owner owns the reservation until the moment you check in. You will have no access to the reservation. If you want to add the dining plan, you will need to pay for that upfront. There is a risk on both sides so be aware of your risks on your side. David's is a wonderful company to work with and puts less risk on you.
