I hope this is posted in the right place. I am researching and seriously considering renting DVC points for a trip in the next 12 to 18 months. So far renting seems to be an awesome way to visit the Magic. The biggest concern I have is in case of something causing me to interrupt or cancel the trip. I have seen on this sight and others, discussions about trip insurance and DVC points and honestly have seen conflicting and mixed answers. Can someone please advise if it is possible to get trip insurance while renting DVC points and where I can buy it. I appreciate any advice you can give me. Thanks.

Pretty much any travel insurer will offer you coverage. Provide them with the costs of the trip and they will quote you a rate.

If you're paying $2000 to rent points, the insurance cost will be based upon lodging valued at $2000.

You will have to read carefully through the policies of any prospective vendor to see EXACTLY what is covered. There are wide disparities in the circumstances which qualify for a payout from one vendor to another.

tjkraz - - thanks for the answer and good advice. This information will be a big help in convincing my conservative DW that renting points is not only a viable alternative to spending roughly the same amount at a moderate resort, but also a good way to preview all the DVC has to offer. This trip we do plan to do the DVC tour to see if we want to and can afford to buy in. I guess the next step for now is to research insurers. Thanks again.

Info on Timeshare Rental insurance. I believe this is also the insurance that David's Rentals has listed.

Thanks for the information. I have been to David's site several times and never noticed this information.
