Renting out points

I used Davids to rent points many times over the year (pre Covid) and was quite happy with them. In February, I had 150 BCV points from a cancelled Aulani reservation and the points were to expire by Sept 30, 2022. Since it was within the seven month mark they were only going to offer me $14.50 a point. I listed them here on the rent boards for $17.00 a point and they were gone within the day….easy as that. Best part was that the renters were so appreciativeIt made my day

Another recommendation for DVC Rental Store. Pleasant, courteous, pay more than David’s, handled the Covid closures much more professionally, and I like that you can browse through all available rental requests and pick one that fits your needs. Some have noted that they issue a 1099, unlike David’s, but anyone renting through David’s and concealing the income from the IRS is acting foolishly. The IRS could decide to turn its attention to this issue, obtain the records from David’s and go after the DVC owners who have not paid the taxes.

David's is a Canadian company, so that is unlikely. However, if David's is paying you via PayPal, you'll be getting a 1099-K from PayPal starting in 2022 and going forward as the threshold has been lowered to $600 from $20,000.
