Renting offsite ECV after you arrive?

My 19 year old athlete daughter is having hip issues! I am thinking of renting her a scooter for our June trip.
I was thinking of just getting her one at the parks if she needs it but after reading your comments about the ones in the park, I am questioning that and considering getting one off property.
Are the busses a pain? How often is there already one on the bus and you have to wait for the next bus?

In addition to what @cmwade77 said, since she's 19, I'm assuming at some point, she will want to go to Disney Springs for shopping and dining and music... and that's another location that has grown so much over the last 5 to 10 years - It's so huge now! She will certainly want an ECV for things like Disney Springs, or if you all go over to the Boardwalk, or maybe decide to do some Resort hopping...

The buses are *not* hard. Take it super slow, and she can let the bus drivers know she is a scooter newbie - they will help her all they can :) And, if she just isn't sure about riding the ECV into the bus, you, or another member of her party can do the honors, and she can board afterwards. You can even just push the ECV up the ramp if that's better. The main thing to know is this - when going in/up the ramp, go *slowly*, and listen to the drivers instructions. When going out/coming down the ramp, go *slowly* and do NOT turn the front wheels until the back wheels are off the ramp, and the scooter is well past the end of the ramp - otherwise there is a chance to catch a wheel on the raised edge of the ramp, and then flip the ECV. Otherwise, everywhere she goes, it's like watching out for a bunch of drunk/distracted pedestrians who all have their phones out - people *will* walk RIGHT in front of her, but this can be mitigated by the rest of her party forming a "bubble" in front of her to help deflect the Instagram Zombies.

There's tons of advice around here about first time ECV driving skills - but probably the most important thing to remember overall is simply this: Be sure to plug in and charge up the scooter overnight, every night, so that she can be ready to roll all day the next day! :)
