Renting of points..but only a few

Help! I'm confused. I read the Renting/trading DVC points FAQ information page. While I understand what should be done if you want to rent enough for a full day(s), what would be the process if you only needed 3 or 4 points to fill out your reservation? The person who you would be renting from couldn't make a one-night reservation with 3 points, so do you have to rent a full night's worth?

Example, what if I wanted to make a reservation for three nights at BWV for a total of 27 points but I currently have only 24 points remaining from this year. I would prefer to rent the three points I need from someone and not borrow into my next year. How would I do this???

I'm not sure on exactly how this is done because I have never done this myself.

But I think the member would just transfer the points into your account since you are already a member.

And the only time a member needs to make reservations for someone is if that person is not a DVC member.

If you can find someone willing to transfer 3 points to your account, that would work well. Since members are allowed only one transfer, that would use their opportunity for the year- so you may have a tough time finding a willing participant.
You might just use those points and borrow the remainder from your next use year.
If that option is not available to you, then renting a full night from someone is the only other choice. They can make it in your name and link it to the rest of your stay. Good luck!

I rented a few points one time to do just that. They were deposited into my account. I have 4 Dec 2001 BWV points left which you could use. I don't think I'll be needing them and if I do in 2002 or 2003, you can replace them...spruce

Thank you, Spruce, for the wonderful offer. At this point we are just trying to think about the next couple of years (after our trip in May), so everything is purely hypothetical. Just on a fact-finding mission to see what our options would be.
