Renting ECV question

I looked up the information on renting one, because my stepmom may join us for a day or two and would need one. The WDW website says they "quantities are limited and subject to availability."

Has anyone ever gotten to the park to rent one and not been able to get one? Do they have alot? I never noticed. I know they have tons of strollers.

I'd hate for them to drive up from West Palm to spend the day with us and have my Dad have to spend the day pushing my stepmom around in a wheelchair. I don't think he could handle that, and she certainly can't handle a day on her feet at MK.

A lot depends on when you are going and the expected arrival time at the Park.

For example, this week is very slow and you could probably arrive any time of the day. July 4th weekend you would probably have a real problem if you arrived more than two hours after Park opening.

If you get to he park at opening of the first hour or so aftewards its probable they would still have some available for rent even during busy times. But after that its questionable. We live locally and we rent a scooter for the day and we have gotten to Epcot, MK and DHS and been told that they have run out. At MK they took our Cell phone number and called when one became available.

If they come up for more then 1 day or even just 1 day I know there is a Scooter Rental Company named Walker Mobility who I inquired with who would rent a scooter for 1 or 2 days they'd deliver it to your resort and I was quoted a price of $50 for 1 day rental. Since it was the same price as Disney we decided to just rent from Disney and get there at opening so we wouldn't have to get it from or to a resort for pick up.

But it might work out for you and your family to have one at the resort for her to use. And if she stays more then 1 day maybe they'd give a discount.

Hope that helps!

Keep in mind too that there is a lot of walking just to get to the park. If you are staying on site, the rental company will deliver it to the concierge desk at the hotel. I used care medical and they are $35 a day. They might have a two day minimum rental. Disney's per day rental is more expensive then from a medical company.

On a Monday in May 2007 (it was the day after Mother's Day) my DFIL could not get an ECV at MK that afternoon due to no availability...this was around 3-4pm.

We put his name on the waitlist and within an hour one became available.

I usually rent from an offsite company as I need to have the wheels at my resort as well and for getting to and from the parks (some of the entrances require quite a bit of walking). I've used both Walker and Randy's and they are both great.
