Renting DVC points

I just had a question on how it works when you rent DVC points. I have an opportunity to rent (at a very reduced rate) DVC points from a friend who will lose them because they wont be able to go during his use year. If they make the reservation in my name how does it work with MDR's, MDE, Fast passes, etc? Am I just able to add the lodging reservation to MDE and then I can add park tickets and the make FP and ADR's as usual? It seems they have the ability to book earlier than regular guests as he told me they would need to now our dates for Spring Break 2017 in the next thirty days or so. We were originally going to stay at CSR but it looks like we will either stay at OKW or SSR. TIA

ADRs: You get to make ADRs as normal, 180+10.

MDE: You will link the reservation number in MDE.

FP+: You will be able to book them at 60 days as usual.

Your friend can book 11 months out at their home resort. So if your 2017 spring break is in March, he can book in April 2016 at his home resort.

It's a little weird he's booking for 2017 because he might lose them. Are you sure he's not trying to book you for 2016?

Thank you for your response. I thought it was odd too, but that was his first question when he called me, are we still planning to go back in 2017. He has been a DVC member for many years and has more than 15 stays as a member, plus he is going to WDW in May 2016.

I just got back from a trip where my friend booked for me, in my name, using her DVC points that were expiring. She contacted DVC and made the reservation and make the Magical Express reservations. Once she received confirmation, she gave me the number and I put that number in MDE and everything else worked as always==ADRs, FastPass+, etc. as the previous poster indicated. I had to split stay since we didn't book until about 4 months before the trip--so slim pickings. However, I totally enjoyed both at OKW (1 Bdrm) and AKL (Jambo, studio savannah deluxe). A huge difference in space between the two. The OKW 1 bdrm was about triple the space to the studio (basically a hotel room) at AKL, but I did have a wonderful savannah view (giraffes, zebra, ostriches, etc.). Hope you have a good time!

Thank you so much for the information. We are really looking forward to going back. We are going to stay at WDW for 4 nights and then do a Disney Cruise.

I might check with your friend for some clarification on when you need to book this. Spring is a busy time at WDW, but OKW and SSR are the last places to book up usually. Seems as though you could book there well after the 11, and even 7 month mark.

I agree. No reason to book SSR or OKW at 11 months out unless you just want to stay at those. I really think based on what you are getting from your friend that the points need to be used in 2016 and there is a miscommunication. You wouldn't even be able to book for Spring break 2017 for at least 2 more months, and then only at their home resort.

Just an update. We booked our March 2017 stay at OKW when the window opened On April 2. My friend just calculated wrong, he figured it out for 13 months ahead instead of 11 months and we are using his 2017 use year points. Thanks everyone!
