I've never rented DVC points. What are the pros and cons. App what would it cost for a family of 4 for one week in October? Can you do packages with dining plan? We like to stay CL so at least our breakfast is covered if we dont do DDP. Thx.

I woukd suggest you check out dvcrequest.com. Will have all the info you need. Also, check out the dvc boards. There is a sticky somewhere about this. You can add the dining plan. There are a very limited amour of club level rooms at AK only and will require a geat deal of planning to obtain one with an 11 month out reservation.

I suggest you go and have a look at the DVC part of these boards. They have sticky threads that explain the process. Also a number of other websites such as AllEars also have pages that explain the process.
The main pro is that you can get access to the DVC units (studios and villas) at a much discounted rate - even lower than when Disney has a cash sale. The main cons would be that when renting you are locked in - once the renter has committed their points to the deal, they will seek your payment and most disallow refunds. So it requires some trust between you and them.
But the websites will explain more fully and precisely than I.
the cost will depend on which DVC resort you wish to stay in, and what type of room - a studio will sleep 4 but perhaps you prefer a 1 bed villa. There are different point requirements for all and I recommend you look at All Ears and their recommended broker service - David's Vacation Rentals - has a calculator to show the price.
You can add the Dining Plan (at normal cost) to your booking.

There's only one DVC resort that offers club level: AKV. There are a very, very small number of club level villas, so as the PP said, you'll need to be working with an owner ahead of the 11-month booking window. And there's still a risk, even if the owner calls the minute the phone lines open on the first day of the booking window, they still may not get one.

When you rent DVC points, you're paying an owner to reserve their timeshare for you. There are no packages available on DVC points in the sense that there are with cash reservations, since it's a private transaction between individuals. Owners can add the dining plan (and DME) to your reservation if you'd like. Payment for the dining plan will be due at the time it's added to the reservation.
