Just came across this on another site (I forget which, sorry!):

It’s important to note that when Rentees rent points from DVC members, they receive nearly all of the perks that DVC members do when they stay at DVC resorts. In fact, a Rentee’s Keys to the Kingdom card (Room Card) will say “DVC Member” on it. This will enable a Rentee to receive various discounts, pool hop to other Disney resorts (with the exception of the Beach Club and Animal Kingdom Lodge), utilize free valet parking at DVC resorts, and so on. Upon arrival at the resort, the Rentee will receive a booklet called “Pocket Perks” which summarizes the discounts currently offered.

I know I've read elsewhere that DVC members get discounts off the tours.

We are renting DVC points for a couple of nights next month and are interested in doing the Keys to the Kingdom tour.

Once we have checked in at the BWV where we are staying, would we be eligible for discount on this tour if we booked it after check in?

My only worry is that the tour would be booked up if we left it this late.

Also, would we have to book the tour for one of the days we were staying at BWV (we are staying elsewhere for the rest of our trip).

I'll book the tour either way, even if we have to pay full price, but just wondered if waiting until we check in at the BWV might save us a few pennies!

Can anyone help?

It is actually an honour system and renters are NOT supposed to get the same perks as members. I have noticed that Disney are more and more asking for sight of the actual membership card rather than the room card when giving perks. If this was the case for the tour you would certainly not be able to get the discount.

That's fine, I don't mind paying full price, but what i'd read made me wonder.....
I'd rather book it in advance and know we had a place anyway.

Do you know how many people there are on an average tour? And what the earliest time slot is?

to get dvc perks you have to show your KTTW card and your blue dvc card together.thus renters should not dvc perks. Also the tour perk your after has to be booked thriugth member services so you might get it if the person your renting from can do it for you

I'm so sorry you were miss informed :sad1:
DVC point renters are not entitled to any Member perks. You CAN get these perks IF the party your renting points from make all the arrangments for you on their membership card.
Disney as of late has been tightening up on non-members useing DVC perks while renting points. :confused3

That's cool, thanks for the help everyone, I'll just book them myself at the normal price.

Incidentally, it was on the mouse owners web site that I found the info.
