Renting DVC @ Kidani Village...

No, sorry, members only.

To add a bit more detail: If you are a member at a resort other than BLT, but staying at BLT via a DCL point reservation, you may go up to TOTW. The cast member checks your KTTW card for the "member" logo in the lobby and escorts you up.

For folks staying at BLT on cash reservations or non-DVC members renting, heading up to TOTW is not available

Please correct me if the rules have changes; it's been a while..

Right now, through 2013, all members staying at WDW, are allowed up to the lounge, but have to show a KTTW and their membership card. Its not just when you are staying at BLT.

I'm not sure if this is a typical experience, but we visited TOTWL in June as DVC renters. We are DVC members, but happened to be staying on rented points for that trip. Our KTTW cards did not have the member designation on them.

When we checked in at the lobby desk, they asked only for our KTTW cards and not for our DVC member cards. It was not busy at all that night, so that may have been a factor. YMMV.

In your case, you met the requirements for a member to go up to TOTWL. You were a DVC member staying at WDW. That's all you needed.

But if you had tried to pool hop, you would not have been eligible to pool hop since you were not staying on your own points at a DVC resort.

I think the requirements are currently that you have to be a DVC member and staying on points IIRC. I don't think it specifies that it has to be your points. And I bet they allow members staying on property fairly routinely regardless.

But they had no way of knowing I was a member. They never asked for our member cards.

Your KTTW card has a code and I wonder if there is something in the code that denotes that it was a DVC reservation.

Did you mention you were DVC members?

When you rent DVC points, I believe the KTTW card shows the DVC member's number. I'm not sure how this varies from the KTTW card when you stay with your own points (we just purchased in March and will have our first stay with our own points in November). I assume that the KTTW card will have some kind of "member" designation in addition to the member number.

No, we did not mention that we are DVC members. Just said that we would like to visit TOTWL and then they asked for our KTTW cards. They made a notation of something from the card (possibly the member number?) and then took us up in the elevator.

The cards do not have your member number on them, but some will denote a DVC room. Since you didn't mention that you were DVC members, and they didn't ask for your card, the CM must have decided it was enough.

But, they have been asking for the member card, so if someone is a renter but not a member, they won't have it to show and would most likely be denied entry.

In your case, had you been asked to prove you were a member, you could have.
