When renting 2 rooms is it better to make contingent or not? It would be 600 points for 2 rooms?

I don't think that most renters are renting out 600 points at once, I would not make them contingent. I would also ensure that I am putting in my request for the 11 month booking window to give the most time for them to come through.

I could be mistaken, but my feeling is that most owners have 150-200 points. There certainly are owners out there that have 600 or more, but not a lot, comparatively. And remember that most owners use their points themselves and don't ever rent out points.

I think your chances of finding a single owner with 600 points who's willing and able to fill that reservation and is working through a broker are very small. I imagine a broker would approach that by looking for two owners who could fill separate 300 point reservations; I don't know if they'd break it down further than that.

No matter how you break it up, it's still a *heck* of a lot of points to find at once.

We found a single owner with enough points for 2 Poly rooms for a long trip. We waited a while, and in hindsight would likely have been totally fine going with 2 members assuming it would have come through months earlier. We’ve also had a large point rental for an extended stay in a BLT 2 bedroom. I tend to think we had a lot of luck both times.

Its not completely impossible, but I think there’s a real possibility you don’t get what you want by waiting for one owner.

I would reach out to a broker and get their take on making them contingent or not. I would contact the broker at 11 months, even a week or two before to get all of your information in. This way when 11 months opens you have the highest chance (even if you have to wait). I rented a 2 bedroom BLT in Nov and had to wait about a month for an owner with enough points. There was other owners and availability at other resorts but I decided to wait for BLT based on their recommendation. I’m sure they can guide you on your best chances.

Renting two villas is harder because the owner who is doing the booking online (if they wait to call it in, it might be gone), can only see one vacant villa at a time. They could book one and then when they go to book the second, none is available. Just book a single villa big enough for your party.
