Renting DVC - Anyone Tried It?

Rentals thru the DVC Rent/Trade Board will usually be well below those rates you quote ( typically they range from $9-13 per point)

Every example I gave came from actual prices paid this thread and ranged from $108 midweek studio to $166 for a studio to $425 for a 1BR. So you can easily get a 1 or 2br with a full kitchen from Bonnet Creek (my original example) for less than a DVC studio. If you can find a DVC 1 or 2br for $100 to $125/night jump on it, you're getting a deal.

and there is no surcharge for ME with a rental from a DVC member. The amount charged by the member is the full payment.

Brian Noble had it right, the $100 is what they charge RCI people to trade in as a resort fee. Apparently they don't charge renters the same. Thanks for the correction.

the resort fee was long before DME - it has nothing to do with transportation or anything else. Disney does it because Disney can.

you realize this thread is from July, 2009?

not sure what your point is?

You missed a post that was deleted by the mods - which was the post that dredged up this thread in the first place.

So why wouldn't everyone rent?? What are the negatives? The deals seem too good to be true!

i am a dvc owner but new to the renting thing and here's tip for getting a feel for the person you are renting from, under the disboard name is a number of posts that person has made. higher numbers means they've been involved w/more posts (in theory more is better as it indicates longevity) then you can click on their name and see what other posts they are involved in. i was told by other dis members that if all their subscribed threads are scrictly for renting points, that isn't a good thing.
i read alot about renting points before renting mine simply because it is very hard to know if the person you are dealing w/is honest and will follow through. knowing that, make sure you look at all the info you can get on the person you rent from and you should be fine.
