Hello all .. we are a party of 6 with 2 small children and a lot of luggage. Would it be possible for me to go get our rental car (in terminal) then pickup the family and luggage at the curb somewhere? This would be so much easier that hauling the kids and luggage into the parking garage where the rental car will be.

Thanks very much

Yes you can, after picking up the car and leaving the garage, (just remember which terminal side you arrived on A or B), then circle around and follow the signs to that terminals arriving flights and look for the airline pickup area that you arrived on.
Not very difficult at all.

It's not difficult to do but it would necessitate a bit of driving around the roads that surround the terminal area.

As the PP noted you'd have to know which side (A or B) of the airport where you picked up your luggage and then just drive around to the Terminal A or Terminal B Arrivals. Your party should get the luggage and then step out to the sidewalk at the Baggage Claim Level (level two) where you'll pick them up.

It's a bit time-consuming to drive all the way around the airport after picking up a vehicle in the garage but the signage at MCO is great so you'll just follow the signs.

Do you have any "Elite" status with your rental agency (eg. National's Emerald Club) where you can go directly to your car? If not, you can also save some time by splitting up when you get to the luggage carousel (Level 2).

Since it is usually 5-10 mins for the bags to arrive, send the driver down to the rental counter (Level 1) to check out the car. The others can do a last minute potty break or keep an eye out at the carousel.

If the timing works out, the bags will be ready at the same time the driver returns with keys and/or rental agreement (varies with agency).

You can then take bags out to curbside (Level 2 - Arrivals) to wait while the driver goes back down to Level 1, across the roadway to parking garage where rentals cars are parked, then find/drive car back around airport to your waiting family.

Or you might just get a porter to schlep the bags on his cart to your car. Figure $10-15 tip depending on the number of bags you have.

Thanks everyone .. appreciate your feedback, will certainly do the pickup at curb option.

Note: Be sure you have everyone waiting at a car pickup area, not a bus area or taxi area. Otherwise you may be shooed away and may have to circle all the way around and re-enter the curbside area.

This won't be a problem at MCO since the bus/taxi area is on a different level from the baggage claim area.

I think that's why seashoreCM posted, if OP's family was waiting on the ground floor bus/shuttle area instead of the Level 2 Arrivals, there could be problems.

Certainly would. I'm just assuming that instead of intentionally going out of their way to go down a floor, they would simply walk out the door right at baggage claim.

Huge problem if they are waiting on level 1, it is gated and they don't let passenger cars in there.
