renting banked points

Hi, does anyone know if it is standard practice to ask for payment in full to rent points that are banked? Or should I ask to pay 1/2 up front and the remainder at 30/45/60 days out? Any info greatly appreciated. I am anxious to complete the transaction, but want to be as informed as possible!

Just offer no cancellation as your policy and make your final payment at least 60 days out. Or you can ask for full payment to make the reservation. You are going to lose the points if they are not used, so don't give any reason for cancellation.

Thanks for the reply! BTW, "renter" is so confusing! I guess I am the "rentee", as I am looking to rent from an owner. Of course, I would prefer to pay in two installments, at whatever interval required. Paying upfront leaves me bearing all the risk for a longer period, but makes no difference in the end, as an owner could cancel a res. last minute if that were his intention, I guess. I wonder if and when the "rentee" is able to check on the res. through the hotel itself. I've learned a lot due to these forums, but more questions arise! I'm sure to find the answer somewhere
as the members here are very generous with their experience and info. I really appreciate it!

Do you have a contract? I would think with a contract, both parties would benefit. Then the member couldnt cancel your ressie unless you didnt pay, or for the owner, they wouldnt be out their points if the renter paid the balance before the 31 day cancellation window. Have you rented before from anyone?
