Hi all... We are looking to take our three little girls on a trip to Disney next year, and have our heart set on AKV. It's way waaaay to expensive for us to be able to afford booking through disney. But I haven't been able to find anyone with points to book our 1 BR value studio through, even on the rental sites.... Anyone have suggestions??

There are not many value studios in Jambo so they can be difficult for AKV owners to book.

Value studios is about room size, not view (can be Parking lot or savanna view). The bed area is 3' shorter (front to back) than the standard and savanna view studios.

And, unless at least one of the girls is an infant under 3 at time of the trip, you will not be able to book any AKV studio (AKV 1BR Standard and better all sleep 5)
The only studios that sleep 5 are VWL, GFV, Poly and BWV

She's an infant. Will be just under 2 at time of travel. And with confirmed availability, I just want to book it so badly. I thought the rental brokers would be the easiest, but had no luck with David's and DVC-rentals... Where do I go? What do I do? I'm so new to this!

Did you try the companies that do it rather than an individual person? Just type in your search engine DVC point rental and you can find several.

Yes, have received responses from David's, as well as DVC-Rental.com. Confirmed availability, but no points.

Would try expanding your search to a studio. There should be plenty of those.

It isn't the room, it's finding someone with the points. Can't find anyone through the rental sites online. :(

They must not have any AKV owners renting their points this far out from your stay. You could try through the rental board here.

There are two ways to rent - either directly from an owner or else to use an intermediary (broker) who sets up the rental between the owner and the renter. If the brokers don't have points you'll either have to wait until they do or else find an owner to rent from directly.

Rental has gotten a lot of publicity and demand to rent is often outpacing supply of points (and, in some cases, rooms -- I just want to give the people looking for room availability now for October or early December a cookie and a wish for luck).

If this helps ease your mind. AKV is one of the easiest places to book - the rental companies just might not have AKV points to book if this is between 8-11 months. Once 7 months comes then any owner can make a reservation at any resort.

What time of year are you looking to book? Unless you are looking to book in December then you should have no problem using one of the rental companies to book it 7 months out. A value will be impossible to get, but look at spending a little more on a 1 BR studio or better yet a savanna view. A studio with the use of a pack and play will work for your family too, so you could do a standard or Savannah view. I think if this is a special trip for you and your girls then make it extra special with a Savannah view.

Do you want a 1BR value or a value studio? They're different.

we rented out some of our points for a value studio for next year. those rooms book up fast so you have to catch someone with points to rent prior to 11 months or in this case, the person wanted just a one or two night stay prior to 7 months and knew there was availability. We rented ours through the rental board here so check there. i can see how davids would have an issue as you would have to have someone put the points out there prior to 11 months and be willing to book right when the window opens. Still not a guarantee.

Booking so far in advance demands a premium through the rental websites. AKV, Kidani expecially, are not so difficult to book and at 7 months it should be open most of the year. There might not be a big difference between booking a standard view room at 7 months than a value room at 11 months. And the standard room is a bit bigger. And there would not be a chance of getting a parking lot view.

The problem you are running into is that there isn't an incentive for akv owners to rent their points out at the 11 month window thru the brokers. They get the same $11.30 at the 11 month and 7 month window. If they rent out at the 11 month window, they have to wait longer to receive their final payment.

If I owned akv points, I would also wait until the 7 month window. I would get the same amount of money and get it 4 months sooner.

Hope things work out for you. I would have a back up plan though since there are only a handful of value studios.

I would recommend using the rent board here on DIS, seems to be AKV points available.

Regards

David's usually offers the opportunity to wait and see if points become available. We have done that twice now for AKL, specifically Jambo, and have gotten our first choice. We book 1 bdrm, though. You can always cancel your waitlist and have your deposit refunded if you find something elsewhere.
