How many times can I rent and transfer points in a use year? Is there a site where the rules are posted?

You are limited to ONE transfer, either in or out, not both, per use year.

The transfer rules have changed several times since DVC began. Chuck gave you the current rule.

AFAIK, you may rent a reservation as many times as you like (subject to availability and the number of points you have).

However if you rent reservations on more than an occasional basis, Disney may deem you a commercial renter and tell you to stop. Rumor says that is 20 rentals per year. If you get to that point, you'll have to argue with Disney about the "rules".

Anyway, your question implies that you may be considering purchasing DVC with intent to regularly rent out a portion of the points. If so, you'll want to do lots of research before committing - renting is not always as easy or as trouble free or as lucrative as some might think. JMHO. YMMV.

P.S. I apologize if my assumptions are incorrect or offensive.

Another rule about transferring - according to the Public Offering Statement, there is to be NO compensation between members for point transfers.

And this... I don't understand. How can we transfer points without compensation...? Maybe, if we could swap points (2 transfers per year) this would make sense. I know this would not help the add-on business, but I think it should be allowed.

I think it might actually encourage more new members to know they could do this. JMHO.

One transfer per year. Even though the POS says we cannot receive any compensation for transferring points, it hapens all the time. I guess DVC doesn't enforce the rule, but it does exist.

Don't rent too many times (20?) or you may be flagged as a commercial renter.

The POS states:

Use of Vacation Homes and recreational facilities for commercial purposes or any purposes other than the personal use described in this Declaration is expressly prohibited. "Commercial Purposes" includes a pattern of rental activityor other occupancy by an Owner that the Board, in its reasonable discretion, could conclude constitutes a commercial enterprise or practice.
